He did adequately, if you ignore the 30 minutes he was a walking meme/conspiracy machine. And that's the big story, how much he improved and how in the face of the recent scandal and GOP civil war he managed to do adequately, which is basically a win.
But he did far from well. His demeanor was atrocious (not well prepped/trained at all), he was terrible at actually answering questions and smoothly transitioning to other topic (he just brought them up), his answers were often times barely coherent, he publicly contradicted his own VP candidate and basically threw him under the bus, he continued to lie through his teeth about a hell of a lot of topics, he was extremely vague whenever specific numbers/information came up, and a huge number of other issues.
But he wasn't as bad as he was the first time, so that's a win!
Yes. Suppose...
Question: "What do you think black people's role in our society should be?"
Person A: "I think black people should be slaves."
Person B: "I ate an ice-cream yesterday. It was tasty."
Person A has gotten some points for answering the question, and none for the answer being reasonable. Person B has gotten none for anything.
