    EN Severely dissapointing

Anyone else feel like the emerald nightmare raid is very poor? I'm beginning to think it may be one of the worst raids Blizzard has made, up there even with DS and ToC.

    - Cheapest raid in a long time. Copy pasted zones with edits. Low res textures everywhere. Very little doo-dads and other assets.
    - Incredibly boring layout. Take portals into the same circular red and black room over and over.
    - Boring encounter mechanics
    - Cenarius is a HUGE lore figure and everything about his encounter is so underwhelming.

It's not a great raid but it's not that bad either. It's a bit like HM. Just ok.
The Cenarius fight is the only one I really liked and I haven't even killed him on mythic yet.

Pretty much sums up this thread.

3 bosses are basically loot pinatas. Ursoc, Nyth and Dragons. Ursoc is also just Butcher 2.0
2 are add fights. Eye and Cenarius.
Elerenthe is an ok fight but still crap.
Xavius fight is worse than Imperator. Rift of Aln is fucking depressing to look at as well. I don't care what people say it looks like a room that is still in it's beta phase.

Overall meh raid. Worse than Highmaul somehow.

No. It's actually a fairly entertaining raid. Let me address your points.

    - The environments are fine. Old zones being corrupted. Nothing wrong with that, since that's what the Emerald Dream is. Texture is fine, I dont want to drool over a rock or some grass.

    - Layout is perfectly fine. Doesn't bother me even a little bit.

    - The encounters are pretty interesting. If Normal or Heroic don't do it for you, clear them and look for a mythic progress guild. The fights on mythic are fairly satisfying. The content was mainly cleared by over-geared guilds who spammed mythic+ for gear or ran several split runs for 2 resets.

    - Cenarius could never be more than what it is, since the entire raid is about corruption, ergo corrupted Cenarius is all it could ever be. The mechanics don't leave a single raid member out since they can't ignore the brambles or nightmare debuff.

I don't know. You may be in one of the 70 7/7 mythic guilds, but regardless - I personally enjoy the EN raid as it stands. It's a change of scene from HFC and when you think about it, isnt so different from Highmaul since there, 5 bosses were based around the centre. The only difference is the use of portals, which were in HM too.

    Anyway, just my POV =D

If I remember correctly there has been a talk a long time ago about the Emerald Dream becoming an expansion.
Now all that's left of it is being the beginner's raid in one.

At least Highmaul had an original layout, but EN really mostly are some reworked zones.
And the Xavius area is a joke in terms of designing. Grey mist... that's totally how nightmares look like.

For the Emerald Dream being such a big lore item, it really feels like a huge letdown.

These things are subjective. People are effected by how much fun they had with their guild which raided a place. Trying to look at it very technically, the bosses design is improving every expansion gradually. I wouldn't be surprised if it has the best designed bosses yet. Aesthetically, which is also subjective, could get some criticism on repetition. There is some copy pasting, that's true. Not on bosses of course, their zones. Though the last zone after clearing is cool.

It certainly has the discounter vibe about it.

The only thing I would say is well done is the voice work of the bosses.

Aside from the voice acting of Il´gynoth and the atmosphere of the Xavius fight (I am one of the few who like it), EN is severely underwhelming

The only serious mistake with aesthetics is that they could have made 1 or 2 more bosses more unique in the coloring of the their zone. Red/corrupted is cool but there was potential for more complexity. It wouldn't even take that much resources, mainly recoloring/different concept.

Bosses in terms of difficulty(Easiest > Hardest) in Mythic: Nythendra > Elerethe > Ursoc > Xavius > Cenarius > Il'gynoth.

If you can put out the numbers, that is the order. Il'gynoth is the only boss where you really need to do it properly to get a kill.

Encounters designs are shit as a whole, highmaul was miles ahead

I like the lore behind it and the boss battles aren't too bad, but yeah its not the best designed raid from an aesthetic standpoint. Feels too fragmented with all the teleports. The best raids are nicely laid out so it really feels like you're assaulting an enemy stronghold.

This thread is another perfect example on how you can't please everyone.

Well, zones being copy pasted actually make sense since Emerlad Dream is a primordial Azeroth in looks. Still, the fights are nothing special and entire place feels kinda low effort. I prefered Higmaul more.

It isn't sooo bad. I just wish it didn't have that red silly string everywhere. the atmosphere is kinda meh. I don't like the spider/raven boss at all. shitty voice acting, annoying fight, but what do I know I'm just retired /casual one day a week at most for raid related crap.
It's just the first raid. ( although Xavius could have used a little "something" )

beats what we got out of the gate in Wrath.

On the topic of Highmaul, I came back after a few years out of game after that raid was out for 2 tiers. It had potential as a zone/raid I liked what I saw of it, just could have been expanded upon. ( Like all of WOD it felt unfufilling)

I'm honestly already bored with it. Cleared it on normal and nothing really makes me say "man I can't wait to do this on heroic and mythic too!"

Am I the only one who liked ToC?
