From the 7.1 patch notes:
New macro conditions for “reticle” spells: @cursor and @player.
@player already exists as a way to target one's self--is this a way to macro reticle spells to drop around yourself, without use of the targeting circle?

That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.
Exciting if this is true. Ground targetted AOEs always felt frustrating, especially for the handful of classes that have at one time or another had to use them in their single target rotation.
Steve Irwin died the same way he lived. With animals in his heart.
Just tested, its amazing. Demonstration:

So DKs can DnD themselves, you can flamestrike spam with a keybind, etc. Neat stuff.
Would love @target to be added
Awesome. Been waiting for this.
That is very interesting.
I have to admit given their stance on external solutions to that, I wasn't expecting any change to that.
Very nice.
There is room for more unit conditionals as suggested, but this is already a very good start.
Yeah, @target would be great, but @cursor is pretty amazing.

Now if you could get the targeting reticle on key down and place the spell on key up I would be happy.
so @cursor just makes Things like Blizzard/DnD etc instantly place it?
Yes, it is cast with one button press at the current location of the cursor, not too different from how a spellcast works with the @mouseover conditional.
As it won't always have the need to be over a unit at the time, it needed a different conditional, therefore @cursor.
Wonder if that works with @mouseover too, which could be useful for boss units.
So what would be the macro for @player? And does anyone know how to make an extra action button macro that shows tooltip? I can never get it to show the tooltip when I use #showtooltip.
So, if I am reading this correctly:
#Showtooltip Exploding Keg
/cast [nomod, @cursor] Exploding Keg; [mod:SELFCAST, @player] Exploding Keg; [mod:ctrl] Exploding Keg;
Should work.
This assumes, have gone into the interface and set my selfcast key to something like ALT.
