I myself spent 500 bloods on Leystone ore, prospected it all and crafted all the blue gems into their corresponding stat gem (Mastery, Haste, Vers, Crit) sold the other blue gems that aren't used in a Stat gem. Dunno what I am going to do with all the gem scraps/green gems. But so far I made a ton off of that alone.
What did you guys do?

Herbs. Made 100 flasks.
Made 800 of the new pot.
Still got like 300 to do stuff with.

is there any other profession that has to "discover" a rank3 recipe to get to max skill?

11k prolonged powers and traded them all to guildies for their bloods for the herbs I wanted so now I have like 5.5k each of fox and fjarn and 2.7k or something starlight(had alts with 200 each on top of my main with 1100)

Havent touched the trader my self, but has bought a lot of materials from those who have. But sure, some has been spent on crafting. I would guess the market on most materials will rise after this first week, so I'm not in a hurry of spending my bloods. Maybe I will be lazy and use them for OR.
Edit: How much order resources do you get for each blood?

It's 200 resources per blood
I did the same thing Jello did. Traded guildies pots for their herbs from the trader to get rank 3 old war/flask recipes
