I am running at GTX 970 along with a 5 year old i7 and 16GB of DDR3 Dual Channel RAM.
At the beginning of legion I experienced some issues with frantic frame drops and a feeling of lag where my frame rate would crash to between 1-8 fps.
However i have not seen this issue since driver updates in January. Turning off the Xbox in game DVR recording helped a lot, the Nvidia Geforce Experience centre also has a game auto capture feature which would be worth turning off.

Day to day i get around 40-60 fps on high settings around Dalaran and 60+ in the open world and more in dungeons.
Old world content i get 100+ fps.

A 970 should be fine for 1080p, But I'd recommend a 1060, it should do just as well (if not better), and unless you buy 2nd hand should be cheaper.

I'd also recommend posting in the computer sub-forum, as they're more likely to know these things.

I have 970 and i7 3770 (no oc), recently switched to 2k screen from 1080 and still have no issues with msaa 2x and cmaa (i set downsampling to 100% down from 120%), in raid however i use lower settings because i have fps issues especially on skorpy and aluriel

Why buy 970? just buy 1050ti and you are golden. runs wow perfectly fine and also handles most new games at medium-high at 1080p

    1050 Ti > 970? No way! I'd say 970 twice better than 1050 Ti
    Please understand those numbers.
    970
    1050
    Red just number of series
    Green is level perfomance:
    5 or lower is low
    6-7 is medium
    8 or higher is high

A 970 is nowhere near twice as good as a 1050ti. You have to understand, that typically, a GPU from the current generation is about as powerful as the tier above it from the last generation. On top of that, the 10xx series was a much larger boost in performance than previous generations.

Still, you are right, the 1050ti is not more powerful than a 970. However, a 1050ti is more than capable of handling WoW and less expensive than a 970.

I didn't even say that 970 is less powerful than 1050ti, i said that with the 1080p monitor it could be preferable. Due to price performance balance of the card. Because 1050ti is more than 60euros cheaper than 970.

    No its not.

The 970 is a little faster than a 1050Ti, but not by alot and its still twice the cost.

Read some articles and watch some youtubes before you assume older gen cards are still better, not only that, the 1050Ti is a whole lot cooler than the heater the 970 is.

For Wow the 1050Ti is a good option and a RX 470 is inline with the 970 and its $20 more than a 1050Ti and $100 less than a 970.
