He did it backwards.... he should have made it affordable for those on it, then figured out how to get everyone else in it. He threw everyone in who do nothing but add cost, first. Then forgot the making it affordable part.

Make it affordable for the rich folks that already have it? Isn't that how the US worked until now? Feed the rich, starve the poor? I think Obama's main point was to break that cycle and actually care about the ones that need help instead of shoving money up people's arse that don't need more of it.

Having said that, in Europe general healthcare started as state controlled institutions, so you could keep cost down and force people into it at the same time. But that's way too communist for the US.

Except we have proof in the forms of certain European Nations of his plans working. Hell even Canada has a Universal Healthcare system. We've doubled our minimum wage in US a few times in the past as well. So you're going to have to tell me what this "Real World" is you speak of.
