    Question about M Cenarius

    Hi

There's this Nightmare Ancient (tree) add on Cenarius that uses his Stomp ability, right?

We went to Cenarius HC today with 3 ppl (pala tank) to test if it's possible to immune this Desiccating Stomp. Only the tank was in melee range for the Stomp, he used Divine Shield the moment tree started to cast it and he indeed wasn't damaged. Raid wasn't damaged by "Desiccation" either.

We did few pulles to make sure if we were correct and it seems we are correct.

Cast time is 3 seconds, on mythic boss casts it 2 times in a row with 0,5s break between casts so around 7 seconds in total. Divine Shield is 8 seconds. Blessing of Spellwarding talent also works just liek Divine Shield.

My question is, if it works why people aren't using it for Cenarius Mythic? That way you don't have to stack at tree, no need to waste so many healing cooldowns. The only problem is that Cenarius along with all melee players have to be moved few yards away for when the stomp comes. So little bit less cleave for literally 6-7 seconds. And so many cooldowns saved.

We haven't started our Mythic Cenarius yet so we cannot test it ourselves.

    Anyone can enlighten me, please?

Not sure why you're over complicating the fight -

Just have melee and tanks soak the stomp with a spirit link.

Links not really going to help on wisps anyway which is the only real source of damage in this fight honestly. (well thorns too but just watch your health lol)

Maybe they don't have a resto shaman? Thorns make it annoying to equalize hitpoints without SLT.

Could be an interesting thing to try, but when going for 2 waves, losing cleave time is probably too risky.

DPS requirements. If you want to beat the two sister wave (and really, you should aim to if possible, it makes the fight miles easier), you need to meet a certain DPS check that is decently high. Spending that DPS time to try to avoid something you can brute force through isn't going to let you do that. It's similiar to asking why people are cleaving the adds on top of Cenarius with thorns - that does way more damage than the stomp.

Raid fights always accommodate DPS, because shorter fights let you skip a bunch of mechanics you have to deal with otherwise, and that's where healing comes in. Healing lets you brute force stuff that doesn't one shot you (which is also why you underheal some fights, so you can have even more DPS). It's almost always better to pick more DPS at the expense of harder healing, compared to less DPS for easier healing, if the fight has phases you can skip or avoid.
