Bad year for ships in general.

I am questioning the 4.4bn price tag when it can't be used against anyone other than people with AKs in middle east. Assuming 45k / year, that's almost 25k full college tuition, or lots of medical bills payed or some serious gear for Nasa.

Ironic that liberals want to cut funding to this stuff so we can end up like other countries that get dominated with no military presence. I mean it's even worse they want to take guns away from everyone. You guys literally want to set the US to be invaded without any issues.

I also can't tell. Do liberals not waste money (obviously you can tell they do from just googling liberals) or is it they don't have jobs to be able to waste money?

Do you really think it's a great idea to pour ridiculous amounts of money into fancy toys, that will mean nothing, when doing that is exactly what would force enemy hand to nukes right off?

What good are the fancy toys against nukes? Nothing. You need to keep in mind, that if you keep widening the gap of advantage of the conventional warfare power, then you force the other side to rely on the worst option possible, since at that point it's all they have.
YOU ignored China. It is catching up to us by 2020. So, there is that. We can't by any means take care of our useless part of our population (because taking care of them simply increases that population) in expense of military and technological innovation (we should do both, which we are doing now). Look at Europe. They spent so much money on socialism, that without U.S. they will fall within a day if Russia Invades. They can't even restructure the funds to military even if they wanted to due to being bogged down by welfare spending. All teh nations except Germany is bankrupted by WELFARE spending alone, not military.

USA only by its nuclear arsenal is and will be immune in any kind of "domination / invasion" scenario until a country is able to intercept with 100% accuracy incoming warheads (aka its immune until star wars lasers come out). So worry not, noone will be invading your for decades to come.

I guess you don't know what overreaching is. Ignoring the fact that you can't just make a claim like this and be absolute, eventually this would be a danger to society and not be along the vibe of "lets all sit in a circle and make peace and love with each other and smoke a doobi" mentality. People would try to eventually remove such an asset.

Real life isn't some stupid game where you grind towards the end to get the best stuff. Newsflash; the most effective weapons already exists, and major powers each do have them. Massively overpowered conventional army will just force peoples hand into using them.

You can't win a war with your conventional army, no matter how you improve it, when the opponent already has those end game weapons, rendering your conventional forces obsolete.

I love the Zumwalt, it's an engineering marvel. But it's just TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE.

Nukes? Even nukes become obsolete if not upgraded. You CANNOT ever let go of the edge, if you have it, or no matter how big you have it.

The US isnt exactly a socialist heaven, the 4.4bn werent a "either a warship or hospitals" choice.

Well the problem is that the military seems to be choosing all of its projects for maximum "kewl" factor rather than building weapons that will actually help win wars. The Zumwalt is such an odd concept, I just don't really see the point of having a stealth destroyer when we are already capable of building ships that can hide by going underwater. And really no different from the mentality that leads people to buy thousands of dollars worth of pointless "tactical" gear in preparation for a hypothetical zombie apocalypse in which all of that stuff would be useless anyway. Buying expensive but ultimately worthless stuff just because it makes you feel macho and badass is not the same thing as actually protecting yourself. The Zumwalt is nothing more than a fancy white elephant, as evidenced by the fact that the Navy doesn't even see any point in spreading out the R&D costs by building more than two or three, and will in all likelihood will never see any combat, as even if a war does break out they would probably prefer to rely on tried and tested weapons systems rather than wonky experimental toys.

It's okay, probably pocket money compared to how much the F-35s suck in.

Are you pretending to be right or ignoring comparisons on how much european nations pay per patient/student compared to the US?
