How do you deal with this kind of frustration

Hello, I love Legion dearly, but, I got Prydaz necklace and a useful legendary (hunter belt) after the first months of the expansion.

After that I kept farming everyday many WQ, many M+, Kara/Nightbane, all of the raids, LFR, NM, HC, both EN and ToV, after weeks and months of farming, I finally got another one today... Sephuz... I feel really bad about that, after all of these efforts, getting an item that will sit in my bags... no useful stats, nor primary or secondary, all of those hours for that... and now the "bad luck protection" is reset for another 1 or 2 months or so, playing since vanilla and I love legion, but getting the 2 worst and useless legendaries as my first ones out of 3, when other people will get it at the end of the xpac only , this is like a 2 years win dps wise but also satisaction to get an orange wise, after all this work I put in,

I really feel no motivation anymore since this morning playing, I wanted to know how do you guys feel about that and deal with this frustration if you too got both Prydaz and Sephuz.

TLDR : Got Prydaz and Sephuz after a lot of farming everyday (8h+daily) for months, dealing with frustration and thoughts about that

EDIT : Well I might have wrote this topic a bit (a lot) too early after it happened, already feeling it doesnt matter that much after reading you guys and nearly all of you were exactly right on point about the feeling and how's the system at the moment. Thanks a lot for your input and point of view !

EDIT 2 : Some people seem to be so passionate about that topic that they add their own words to my post, this is NOT a complain post, I said it hit my motivation and was asking for advices about how to deal with it to other people with the same experience and investment, theres nowhere I complain, say I deserve more, or anything like that...

You'll feel like shit today. Just wake up tomorrow and choose to not worry about it anymore. You don't have to be happy about it, but don't force yourself to keep dwelling on it.

Yeah I know thats what gonna happen, it's just a game after all, but this kind of frustration of working on farming, getting a legendary orange item, and be disappointed about it, and that twice in a row, that's something really new in WoW at least to me.

Sephuz will be kinda nice in 7.1.5, if you do Myt+ dungeon at least.

Re-evaluate your priorities. I personally find someone farming 8 hours a day for months on end for orange items weird beyond words. I mean think ahead, while farmin were you going to be "happy" or just "relieved" if a good one had dropped? It would have likely been relief that you've been vindicated that your efforts had paid off.

Frustrated about it? You knew its a system thats lacking (rnjesus) and frankly you enabled it like a slot machine addict in a casino.

    So yea, deal with it.

Wait, you had 2; out of which 1 was usefull and then got yourself a 3rd one, which wasn't good and you feel frustrated?

Well; i got 2, neither of them raises my dps as of yet. One of them will become good in 7.1.5, the other one is only good if i fuck up, which i try not to.
Regardless of the other shitty one being kind of usefull it sucks to see the other retribution pally to get a good one actually.

See it this way: At least you removed another bad one from the game and have a higher chance to get a good one next time.

I have done the same thing as you(+clearing mythic en) and just two legendarys: the neck and boots for mage.
At least you've got one usefull legendary. You can deal with this kind of frustration by knowing that their are other people with less luck.

Yes I was actually considering that I should farm until getting 2 useful ones, 2 hunter ones and then just play normally until next drops. Goal was to replace Prydaz. But I understand why you dont consider it a good idea.

I remember it's just a game, and that I was enjoying it before any of these legendaries came out. Neither of my legendaries are considered bis, but both are better than what I had in those slots before I got them, so why should I complain?

    TLDR: It's a silly game, + 1st world problems.

Yes you're totally right, and I'm not even complaining, I knew the RNG rules about it, I'm asking for your thoughts and how you deal with it, but yes you're 100% right about your last sentence, another bad one item removed !

Honestly, you SHOULD feel bad. It's a bad system. It's designed to encourage farming and pump more chemicals into the addictive feeling that's the same as why people play slot machines. Look at your own self-analyzing. You even said yourself that your entire motivation was killed by a single bad drop. Was that the only reason you were playing: That you hoped your next legendary would be good?

The best thing to do is to cancel your sub and put the reason as: Game is overloaded with RNG, especially legendaries. Take a break. Play something else for a little bit. Lower your burnout a bit. 7.1.5 is near, and 7.2 probably a few months behind that. Come back when the game has been updated somewhat.

People are constantly giving Blizzard feedback about why this system is bad, and why it's not ok to combine a completely RNG-based system with super low drop rates, and "legendaries" that are so disparate in power/utility. They will change it if enough people express their hatred for it, or enough people quit over it.

It's all about how you approach the game:

I play the game to have fun - ie to do stuff in the game and enjoy the experience. While I of course want the two best legendaries for my spec, I regard it as a long term goal to collect all of them. What that means is that any that drop are still better than none. They still advance my collection. And if a good one drops early, then that is a huge bonus.

It's really so simple. Stop obsessing over legendaries. You get to choose how they affect your emotional state and right now it seems to me that you are allowing them to make you miserable. Play the content you want to play because you enjoy it, not because you desperately want to get a certain legendary. Think of them as a collection, so by getting even the useless one, you've ticked off some of that progress and are closer to the goal of getting them all.

You're totally right, but yeah when I say frustration, I talk about frustration time spent wise and within the range of a (just a) video game problem

This post actually have some extremely important meanings i think many will just skip over.

When i got my UH bracers i was not happy. I was simply relieved, relieved both for actually have a chance at being viable, but also because the effort just barely paid off.

The system does feel a bit like going even or losing.

The way I deal with something like that is: I don't get frustrated over something like that.

Yes it's exactly that, I wrote this post literally a few minutes after it happened, my "approach" of the game was at this moment a bit biaised I guess.

True, the goal to me, as said before, was farming to get 2 real "hunter" legendaries, but it's right, I'd have been more relieved than happy at this point.

In the end you did get your cake. It may not have been of the flavor you wanted but you still got one.

There are a lot of players right now who have not even tasted cake. Think about that.

Yes indeed the proc would be nice but I'm not sure that it's gonna be enough to switch from 1300+ mastery rings to 0 (200 with socket).

I think we all have moments where we get frustrated. I had 890 shoulders drop in a M+11 CoS tonight. The problem? They are crit/mastery, the weakest possible combo for a prot pally. I felt dissonance over whether to be happy or irritated, and I wondered if Blizz intentionally toys with us on stuff like this. Then I equipped them, noticed my secondary stats didn't really change all that much, and I got over it. Life goes on.
