Mandatory Guilds - and other archaic wonderfulnesses!

Hello all!

Recently there was a thread asking if guilds were still needed or, rather, claiming that guilds should be removed from the game, for the betterment of the game.

I disagress with that premise. I will employ the same simple logic to prove my point.

Everyone should be forced to join a guild. Subscriptions should be paid at least a year in advance and if you fail to join a guild by level 10 your character will be automatically deleted and a new character will be created in it's stead, named some variation of "shitface" and it will be locked into level 1, automatically logging in every day to run around in Orgrimmar / Stormwind (depending on faction) and sometimes Dalaran, yelling "I am <your real name> (from the billing information in your account) and I am a shitface."

Further there will be regular checks on things like guild chat, whispers, etc. to make sure that you are social enough; the details on what constitues someone being social enough can be worked out later.

All difficulties except Mythic should be removed from the game and queueable content should only be there as a trap. If try to you queue for a dungeon/raid the same thing described above will happen to your account.

Further battle pets need to be removed because they are not based around the "be social" pillar. This is a fact.

By removing everything that can be done without being social the developers can finally focus on the social aspects of the game and benefit everyone in the long term, even the antisocial players.

No thanks. Would have quit straight away if that was the case. Forced socialisation is not the way forward. Incentive to however is. This is not an incentive.

Nobody would agree with forced socialisation in an MMO. That is not how you do it. You make an incentive to without forcing it.

This thread is highly confusing. So, the OP is against guilds? The last time I checked, you don't have to be in a guild in this game. So...what's the problem?

I wouldn't take what the OP in the other thread serious. He openly admitted he got kicked from all guilds he joins and is just salty because he got kicked from them. A cliché story of "fine I didn't want in anyway" turning into bitter anger towards them all.

It's a little beyond me how you got to this conclusion but no, I am not tikcol.

That is a very minimalistic approach to the problem. We both know we're not objectively forced to do anything. There's consequences though.

If I want something in particular and the only way to get it is to partake in an activity, then we can argue that we're forced to partake in it if we want said thing.
