Trump Makes Outstanding Pick For EPA Head

Finally after nearly a decade of
    1. Draconian regulations on coal production
    2. Vehicle emissions which reduce the power in our cars and force us to drive lightweight garbage
    3. Overstepping people's rights to harvest rainwater
    4. Forcing people with ponds on their land to spend lots of money maintaining them and forbidding use of the water
    5. Banning products that work and forcing us to use inferior and more expensive replacements
    6. Severely restricting the ability of US companies to extract natural gas and oil, and banning drilling in nearly every body of water around the US
    7. Kowtowing to Environmentalist Nazis and Tree Huggers
    8. Blocking every pipeline planned for transport of oil (Keystone XL, Dakotas Pipeline, etc..)

We will FINALLY have an EPA Chief with common sense and a willingness to let people have a better standard of living. President Trump has nominated former OK Attorney General Scott Pruitt for the position.

Mr. Pruitt, a Republican, has been a key architect of the legal battle against Mr. Obama’s climate change policies, actions that fit with the president-elect’s comments during the campaign.

Mr. Pruitt, 48, is a hero to conservative activists, one of a group of Republican attorneys general who formed an alliance with some of the nation’s top energy producers to push back against the Obama regulatory agenda. Fossil fuel interests greeted Mr. Trump’s selection with elation.

“Attorney General Scott Pruitt has long been a defender of states’ rights and a vocal opponent of the current administration’s overreaching E.P.A,” said Laura Sheehan, a spokeswoman for the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, which works on behalf of the coal industry. “Mr. Pruitt will be a significant voice of reason when it comes to energy and environmental regulations.”

Welp. Guess humanity's had a good run up until now. Better luck next time, folks.

I've never understood the obsession of some republicans in denying climate change or refusing to tackle it. Reminds of the anti-vaxxers and Wifi is dangerous nutjobs of the far left. But far more mainstream.

My thought when reading the title of this thread: "Orlong likes the idea, so I am skeptical...to say the least."

I know you and I will be long dead by the time it matters, so you probably couldn't give to shits about it, but oil won't last forever. We need alternatives, and pretending like there isn't a problem is no way to solve that problem.

Especially 3. Of course. It's silly to make fuel efficient cars instead of hummers. That's why ecologists force at gunpoint people to buy Japanese or Korean cars instead of F-150 trucks

And btw, if more oil is drilled and gas extracted, then less coal will be produced

Trump picks a reality denier so of course Orlong who also has problems with reality loves the pick.

But go ahead. Its only the grave of your republican party you are helping dig here.

OP, have you ever heard of the Yom Kippur war, which explain an hell lot about fuel efficient cars, way more than ''hippies'' in any case ?

    Man, I love conservatives.

Only in their world does the economy come before the sustainability of the environment.

Listen, if you don't want people to think that your views are a caricature of the right then you shouldn't overplay your hand.

    Two reasons;
For the Money Republican they don't want to sacrifice jobs for clean environments, or profits, worked so well for china they had to stop production for months before the olynpics to make it so athlete's wouldn't die.

For the religious republican the earth was given to man to use up and the sooner that happens the sooner we get to the rapture. They welcome the end like a Muslim terrorist welcomes a bomb to get to his 72 virgins.

If you push a button that finds you a 'random group' and it gives you a random group of people with random skill and random knowledge then you have no right to complain that a 'random group' button did what it was designed to do. The fault lies in your inability to make friends to play with instead of relying on a button designed to be random. It is a 'random group' button, not a 'best of the best' button.

It's probably because the global warming movement lost credibility after stuff like this happened:

Oh, and before the Trumpertons come in to complain that the left always complains about everything Trump does: Linda McMahon is not a bad pick for SBA. Not the most compelling pick, but nothing really wrong with it.

    There, see?

I can add to that. Despite little international experience, I don't hate Nikki Haley for UN ambassador.
