Days aways from Rogue One, a game that will put you in the mood : Rebellion

On GOG and fully playable, Rebellion is a unique Star Wars game, a deep strategy one. Not unlike Master of Orion, much deeper than Empire at War. The main issue is that in SP, there is virtually no challenge whatsoever as the AI is more braindead than a B1 battle droids...

Still, it features diplomacy, sabotage, starship battle (occasional...) a huge roster of old EU characters...

Shame rogue one wont be a retelling of the Dark forces story line and is instead a disney creation of trash that had to be dumbed down for children.

The 1998 game.

Sadly, after a couple of fun games, I remember why it was a bit limited. It have a very basic economy, in which factories can build other buildings (including factories), shipyards built in factories can build startships, the more the speedier.

A very basic move by Humans players (''okay, so I will buy several factories on this planet then use them to build a large shipyard to crank out ships'') is completely out of the league of the AI, who will keep till the end of game shipyards that take years to build large ships.
