I agree. But when people bring up the past is it not right to use the same data from that time frame to justify it? You can't talk about who sided with ending slavery but then say "oh but those people swapped sides now". Republicans unanimously voted to end slavery and that's a confirmed fact. Saying that their agenda has changed over the past 100 years does not change that fact.

Let me ask you this. If a country had an arsenal of tools to prevent any nuclear capabilities we have, where does that leave our nuclear capabilities if there is no continuity to strive to better our nuclear capabilities?

Which is why I said the only way to make yourself more potent now is it nullify the nuclear power of others.

That doesn't happen by making yourself more nukes which in turn causes your enemies to make more nukes. In fact, it doesn't happen at all because we've already surpassed critical mass.

USA hasn't made a single new ICBM since the 60's, a new SLBM since 1990. Russia from the other hand has made quite a few, some even flying in unpredictable trajectories, with varying speeds and altitudes which make them extremely hard to intercept if not impossible. That's quite a thing if you consider that the USA has missiles that fly in a predictable way from point A to point B. Not that there is a system that can intercept incoming warheads. It just shows how different nations are trying to improve their possibilities of retaliation. Everyone but the US is on the same bandwagon.

Ofc Trump was in for a shock, just like Obama who agreed on the USA nuclear triad modernization. USA is stating to fall behind on missile technology and thats bad news because some might get false ideas in the long run.

Well you should tell them they have no idea what they are talking about then. It's a long standing fact that Republicans voted to end slavery. Democrats were the ones who were against it. Now 100 years later both of their agendas have changed and Democrats are more for spreading wealth where Republicans want people to keep theirs but that doesn't change the past.

Just google southern strategy. There is mountains of evidence on it.

But to sum it up, after democrats embraced civil rights the republican party went hardcore after the southern racists. Its why, for example, Reagan gave his candidacy speech about states rights (a.k.a their right to Jim Crow laws) at the place where 4 civil rights workers were murdered.

The democrats after that became the party of equality and civil rights, and the republican party became the party of dog whistle racism which continues to this day, so that virtually no African Americans vote for republicans.
