As for the book deal I'm not surprised. He's a very smart man. And I will admit to being one who thought losing his twitter account would cause him to disappear. I still think it's hurt his popularity though.

Right-wing nationalism is basically synonymous with white supremacy in the United States at current.

I can see a return of national socialism returning within the decade. They are making major in roads throughout the EU some places seeing parties that are only 4 years old taking 15% of the vote.

I honestly do not think the left has actually realized the utter horror they have let lose. It is growing like a seed. Golden dawn, National action, and others. We are seeing a resurgence of parties that mirror the Nazi party and they are being ELECTED into power. We are minutes to midnight and honestly it seems like most people can't see it. They keep talking like people will just grow accustomed to the policy changes that leave them poor and victims in their own country. I can only see a rather bleak future for most of Europe and the sentiments are starting to grow in the states as well.

I think we will see a return of violence and savagery that the civilized world has tried very hard to bury since WW2.

Getting a book deal isn't exactly hard if you can get even the least bit of name recognition, as evidenced by the hundreds of worthless books that may as well be titled Give <famous person> Money for Absolutely No Reason Now! I really don't see any reason to care or interpret this as anything other than Milo having breached a rather low threshold of fame.

Only fools would waste their time debating someone like Milo, he is only after shock value and money. It would be much better to have debates with conservatives who truly believe in what they preach while you may not agree with them you can respect them. In the meantime he can continue to milk fools for their money and books are a pretty good way to do that.

Alex Jones doesn't air in Norway. We do have the internet and media that follows the US quite closely though, as well as being a part of western political social culture that isn't confined by borders; like the rising authoritarian left and right.

In a slightly related note I've actually been at an alt-right (my first encounter with them) "conference", was a few speakers from around the world and lasted a few hours, once when I was in Stockholm, and it was vastly different from the media portrayal today. Was mostly focused on partisan media censorship (from a well-known German war reporter, very interesting), the Syria issue and rising authoritarian tendencies. Overall, it seemed fairly liberal (moderate in Norwegian terms, very liberal in American terms) with a wish for peaceful resolutions in the ME and some concerns about partisan media driving politics (from both the left and the right).

Now I don't know what you call the alt-right in America or if the global idea of alt-right has changed in the years since then to become a meeting place for racists, but that's not the impression I was left with at all. Since I remember it being quite the mix of people (also middle eastern), I'm still a bit skeptical to the way alt-right has become synonymous with racists now that it's caught on as a media buzzword during the US campaign.

Before my attendance there brands me an alt-right racist: I've also been to similar things by liberals and even one with communists locally. Just curiosity.

On topic: I disagree with Milo on some things, agree on others, but he's way too obnoxious for me to want to read a single page.
