Dozens of Danish foreign fighters received welfare payments

At least 36 people who have left Denmark to fight for the terror group Isis in Syria have received unemployment benefits, tabloid Ekstra Bladet reported this week.
Thirty-four of the foreign fighters received the municipal-provided benefit known as kontanthjælp while the other two received the private but heavily state-subsidized unemployment benefit dagpenge.

The figures were revealed through a freedom of information request Ekstra Bladet filed with the Employment Ministry.

Employment Minister Troels Lund Poulsen vowed to take immediate action.

“It is totally unacceptable and a disgrace. It should be stopped,” he told Ekstra Bladet.

This is not the first time that reports have surfaced about Danish foreign fighters waging jihad while receiving support from state coffers. In 2014, the domestic intelligence agency PET revealed that more than two dozen jihadists have collected unemployment benefits while fighting in Syria alongside Isis.

In 29 of the 36 cases, the municipalities and the private organizations known as a-kasser that administer dagpenge have demanded their money back from the foreign fighters to the total combined tune of 672,000 kroner.

PET estimates that at least 135 people have left Denmark to take part in the Syrian conflict. Denmark is thought to have the second largest number of foreign fighters in Syria relative to its size among Western nations, after Belgium.

This is insane. The only thing they should be getting is a swift boot to their ass out of the country and get their citizenship if they have one, stripped from them and if they try to come back in any manner, their families should too!

It must be frustrating for a person to spend every waking minute being outraged.

Yeah, imagine that. A negative reaction to people taking money from a country in a culture, who's very foundation they're fighting to undermine and destroy.
Frankly, if this doesn't outrage you, something might be seriously wrong with you.

They're demanding their money back? Do they think they'd get it?

What's there to be outraged about here? In all likelihood there was just some mix up in the system where either the government wasn't aware that these people had left the country, or had simply overlooked it and didn't update their records. Or is the OP trying to suggest that the Danish government is funding jihadists on purpose?

Nobody is outraged at the government, but at the people who take money from a country they hate, while they're off to join a terrorist organisation.

What a surprise. The government doesn't know the actions and whereabouts of every citizen at all times?

Congratulations, Denmark, this is just proof that you're not a "1984" police state. And now that you know these (former) citizens are terrorists, simply stop sending them money. Just don't expect to get anything back that you've already paid.

It's a problem in the system, it's not like the government is funding these people on purpose. Shit happens in administration of complex wellfare systems and in the bigger picture there are much more severe problems that occur. This just gets a lot of attention cause these people are horrible but unless you get outraged and start forum threads about students who manage to live in student apartments after they're done with their education because enforcing systems are slow to react or miss shit, neither should you shit your pants about this.

I know I'm a ''SJW beta cuck'', but it does not appear to you that the Danish government was not aware that they were foreign fighters ?

Again, the point was never made that the Danish state is deliberately funding terrorists. It's not the state's fault, as it obviously can't keep track of millions of people's whereabouts at all times. What is, however, an outrage, is that some people are shitty enough to collect welfare from a system they so openly despise, while they're off fighting for a system that wants to overthrow it.

Seems kinda redundant to be outraged about that when they're beheading people daily, we already are passively outraged by the much more evil deeds by these people but I getcha.
