    Skorpyron guide - Normal

Isho’s Skorpyron guide. I wrote this for my guild. I though I would share with you guys as well.

The raw meat of this fight is to gradually whittle away Skorpyron's armor until he is briefly unprotected, and then will deal extra damage until Skorpyron recovers. Players should save their DPS cooldowns for these vulnerability phases, which should be around 75%, 50%, and 25% health. This fight has repeating phases, meaning that it’s a single phase that loops by a boss % HP rThis fight relies on using the boss mechanics on itself. In this guide I will go over boss ability’s, group roleseset.

    Skorpyron's Ability’s:
In this, I will be going over his ability’s. This will be description only, as I will go into more detail later. There are also some ability’s that are not mentioned here, but will be later on in this guide.

    Energy Surge -

Sends a shock of arcane magic at a target, inflicting 78375 to 86625 Arcane
damage and an additional 10700 Arcane damage every half-second for 3 sec. This effect stacks.

    Shockwave -

Expels pent up energy, smashing the ground and creating a shockwave which inflicts 418000 to 439000 Nature damage and knocks players back, destroying all Broken Shards. Players may stand behind Broken Shards to avoid Shockwave.

    Focused Blast -

Faces a targeted direction, discharging arcane energy, inflicting 665000 to 735000 Arcane damage and stunning targets hit for 4 sec, increasing in duration for subsequent hits.

    Call of the Scorpid -

Let’s out a resonating sound throughout the room, calling nearby Scorpids to aid in combat.
    Chitinous Exoskeleton/ Exoskeletal Vulnerability –

    • A chitinous exoskeleton of crystals covers the Scorpid, protecting it from damage, decreasing damage taken by 25%. As Skorpyron takes damage the exoskeleton breaks apart, decreasing in potency.

    • Breaking the Chitinous Exoskeleton stuns the Scorpid for 15 sec and debuffs the boss with Exoskeletal Vulnerability, increasing damage taken by 45%.

    Arcanoslash -
Slashes all targets in a frontal 18 yard hemisphere, inflicting 552805 to 610995 Arcane damage. Tank-specialization players are afflicted by Arcane Tethers.

    Add’s
There are a few different adds that will spawn during this fight. These adds have some nasty ability’s that can make them extremely strong. There will be a good amount of add waves during this encounter, and if mechanics are messed up, we get even more adds.

    Crystalline Scorpids-

These adds will be spawned throughout the fight. The off tank (add tank) will continue to pick up these adds throughout the entire fight. Naturally, these adds are low-health, trivial mobs. But with their mechanics, they pose a big threat to the tank. Please note that these adds can and should be CCed and controlled as much as possible to help healers and tanks.

    • Energy Surge - Sends a shock of arcane magic at a target, inflicting 78375 to 86625 Arcane damage and an additional 10700 Arcane damage every half-second for 3 sec. This effect stacks.

    • About 10 seconds after they are engaged, the Crystalline Scorpid will buff themselves with Boon of the Scorpid.

    • Boon of the Scorpid - The scorpids grow restless, periodically increasing damage done by 5%. This effect stacks. Each stack grants another 5% damage. The Crystalline Scorpids will continue to stack Boon of the Scorpid roughly every 7-8 seconds until killed.

    Shrouded Scorpids -

Dozens of Crystalline Scorpids patrol around the edge of Skorpyron's encounter area, Shrouded from attacks. They cannot be targeted or attacked until they are triggered.

    Let’s tie it together

Now that we have covered his ability’s, and the adds along with their ability’s, let’s talk about how they all work together, and what we will do in order to win.

The room is a circle style room layout. The boss will be tanked in the middle as the outsides of the rooms are dangerous due to the Shrouded Scorpids. On pull, the main tank will establish agro on the boss and face him away from the raid. Gratz tank, you are now on the boss for the rest of the fight, while the off tank will be on adds the entire time.

At the start of the fight, with the boss being at 100%, he will have 25 stacks of his Chitinous Exoskeleton, reducing his damage by a total of 25%. With each 1% of damage we do to his HP, he will lose 1 stack.

    • Example: Skorpyron's is at 92% total HP, meaning he has lost 8% HP. So in turn, also lost 8 stacks of his buff meaning now he’s only taking 17% reduced damage.

This will continue till the stacks hit 0. This will first happen at 75% HP. At this point, he will be stripped of this protective armor and then be effected by Exoskeletal Vulnerability, which increases his damage taken by 45%. This process will repeat until he is dead.

During these phases, there will be quite a bit happening. Much like the stacks dropping every 1%, each time the raid deals 2.5% of Skorypron's health in damage, a Crystalline Fragments will break off of the Chitinous Exoskeleton, forming a Crystalline Shard.

    • Crystalline Fragments -
Crystalline Fragments break off of Skorpyron, creating a Broken Shard at that location and inflicting 332500 to 367500 Arcane damage to all enemies upon impact.

These shards play a key part for our victory. If you will go back and look at the Shockwave ability, it will make a bit more sense. When the boss cast Shockwave, it does a lot of damage as well as a massive knock back. This is intended to knock you back into the Shrouded Scorpids. However, by standing behind the Crystalline Shard, you will receive a buff that will negate the ability for you, taking no damage, and receiving no knock back. Shockwave will destroy all existing Crystalline Shards, making way for new Crystalline Shards to form. There will only be a handful of Crystalline Shards available for each Shockwave, so players must position carefully to ensure they can reach one of them in time.

Around every 30 seconds, Skorpyron will cast Focused Blast, which will deal heavy damage and stun any player caught in its path. Skorpyron will aim Focused Blast at a random target. The cast will be around 3 seconds long, meaning you have enough time to dodge the ability. The more times you get him, the more damage it does, along with a longer stun each time.

Arcanoslash is the main tank ability in this fight. Skorpyron will attack his tank with Arcanoslash frequently, dealing heavy damage in a cone. Arcanoslash occurs in sets of 3 rapid casts, and these sets occur about 12 seconds apart. Arcane Tether deals damage every second, and will stack with each of the 3 hits in the "set" In order to break Arcane Tether, the tank must move more than 10 yards away.

    Class Roles and Responsibilities.
With this, I will be going over the Tank, Healer, and dps roles for this fight.

    Tanks:

Arcanoslash is your biggest worry about this fight, making sure to perform the mechanic to the best of your ability will make or break a group.

Be able predict and have incredible reflexes and response times when mechanics double up such as Archnoslash and Shockwave. Not being able to do the two abilities at the same time will wipe the group.

    Healers:

Rotate CD’s during heavy Raid damage.

Tank damage will be insanely heavy during Arcanoslash or when Crystalline Scorpids have high numbers of Boon.

Maintain high level of play and HPS while still executing raid mechanics.
Be able to provide DPS during Exoskeletal Vulnerability.

    DPS:

Maintain high level of play and DPS while still executing raid mechanics.
CC and control adds for help Tanks and Healers during add waves.

Let me know what you guys think. First time writing a guide or anything like this. Feedback is very much appreciated

The guide is too wordy. You need to keep peoples attention and convey everything succinctly. I would never read a guide like your unless there was literally nothing else around. For instance:

The above can be summed up as "Hide behind shards when boss casts shockwave"

This is way too long for a guide meant for your guild.

Lengthy guides are what IV and WoWHead do, which people should read anyway on their own. A guide or strategy for guild should sum up the tactics you plan to use and the fight.

People like it simple and short, or else they will "doze" off half way. Be it written or in form a speach over voice. You must condense the info. The simpler and shorter you manage to keep things the easier it will be for people from other languages or things to understand what you expect from them.

The following is just my opinion and works for my crew.
    1) no need list abilities out with their damage numbers. If written - most probably all people need to know is what the ability does and how it will affect them. In game - possible a link from Dungeon Journal which is accessible to all.
    2) probably wouldn't start out by listing individual abilities, but would mention those inside the tactic itself. Less reference points.
    3) and what Deja said about the "long paragraphs" which can be summed up to one sentence.

The flavor text you add is funny maybe, but in essence add nothing. Would be fine I guess when the tactic is done over voice, but on text based version not really.

This is what I will start building up in the upcoming days. Bit more info snipets and improvements here and there, but still as short as possible.
    1) Try not to be infront of boss, if Arcano Slash inc - DON'T be infront of boss.
1.1) If Arcano Slash debuff is on you move 10 yards away from your initial location.
    2) Hide behind chunks when Shockwave is inc. Not all behind the same one, split up.
    3) Dodge boss when he faces you and casts Nether Discharge - failure will get you stunned.
    4) Stay out of red fog
    5) For tanks:
5.1) boss tank takes red add, OT takes blue adds. If problems tanking 3 tank it
5.2) move side ways when tethered

There's just way too many words.. Read through every paragraph and find ways to cut out 90% of the words. Post #2 gives a very nice example.
