Now, a slew of other offences can land you in the dog house.
The activities that a man can commit that count as micro-cheating include giving a waitress a large tip because she is attractive, or asking a female friend for advice in something he could look up on the internet.
Sending a woman a link to an article about sex is also a form of micro-cheating, as is going out of his way to tell a woman he met that she seems to be “doing well”.
Texting “good morning” to someone just to say good morning is also classed as micro-cheating.
The list was written by writer Melanie Berliet - and has received a lot of attention online.
While these misdeamenors might seem silly and innocuous, there are things on the list that would make any sane woman feel a twinge of doubt.
These include your man saving another woman in his phone under a code name you don’t recognise, reaching out to his ex on a special day like their anniversary, or asking his girlfriend to wear the same clothes as another woman he knows.
Unsurprisingly your boyfriend is far more likely to be sleeping around behind your back than your girlfriend.
A study by YouGov found that one in five of us is cheating on a partner right now.
And this seems to be a habit more common in the younger generation. Twenty-one per cent of 18 to 29-year-olds have cheated on their partners, while 17 per cent of 30 to 44-year-olds have cheated.
