    Trump inauguration boycott

Is this a joke or what?

"More than 50 House Democrats are refusing to watch as Mr Trump is sworn in as the 45th US president amidst a feud between the newly elected president and the civil rights activist and congressman, John Lewis."

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-38656271

I find this rediculus and also what kind of democrats? How democratic is it when you are trying to force your own ideas and candidate to the rest?

Trump won fair and square, a lot of arguments because he received less total votes than Clinton but well they all knew the game of how the voting system goes, they could have tried changing it before it happened.

Also whats wrong with the trashy American media hubs and the EU ones... literally he was voted for 4 years, he didn't take over power by force or anything, let the man have a go and if you don't like him after that, try to change it via a democratic way.

I see no problem with people not attending Trump's inauguration. It's a free country, they are not required to attend if they don't want to.

It's not like they are trying to stop his inauguration by not attending.

They have no obligation to attend. These guys are paid like 180,000 dollars a year and this is not an event they are contractually required to attend. It's gonna be bloody....BLOODY the next two years. It didn't end when Trump won, it only began.
Reminder to self, this is what your dealing with on mmo-c ot

Seems kind of childish. It's like the kid who quits because you're winning and takes the ball home. I guess they are trying to impress their supporters by joining the boycott.

Meh, they're free to do what they want. I think it's childish, but I also don't think they're obligated to respect a man who clearly does not respect anyone but himself.

Why didn't you make threads like this for eight years when Republicans flat blocked the United States from just about any legislation just because the president was Obama. The other side was just as childish when their guy wasn't the man and for far less of issues. I mean they would vote no to their OWN ideas simply so he couldn't get anything done. But suddenly not showing up to some tax payer funded party is an offense to our nation? Give me a fucking break.

Post in the other fucking thread for this. Can a mod just combine all these threads into a mega thread? Anyone else sick of the deluge here by both the haters and lovers of this cunt bag?

It's almost like there isn't a 20 page thread on the inauguration already.

I've missed what this is all about and have been trying to piece this all together...

So, a "Civil Rights hero" states that Trump's whole presidency is illegitimate and he shouldn't be sworn in as president.

So.. Trump says something back (because of course he would) along the lines of "well, you suck".

And then all the democrats flip out that he DARED to talk back to someone who called his election (and win by the democratic process) illegitimate? And to think, a week or so ago most of them probably thought John Lewis was just a department store.

It was super childish of Trump to talk back, but this whole "Democrats lost, but I refuse to accept the winner because popular vote and Russians plus other reasons i dont like him" attitude is embarrassingly childish too. So your team lost. Tough titties. People really need to stop being such bad losers because they're just making themselves look like spoiled children.

They do, but people see it as people protesting that their side didn't win the election. People are discussing if this is reasonable or just childish.

When are conservatives going to realize, this is not what we're protesting? If Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio had won, we wouldn't be protesting. I'd probably watch their inauguration. I don't like their policies, but I can respect them. I respected Romney in 2012 and McCain in 2008.

What we are protesting is the brazen xenophobia, racism and bigotry that Trump has inspired, though perhaps has not illicitly called for. We're protesting the horrible destructive cabinet picks he's putting in. We're protesting his complete disregard for the press and we're protesting his complete lack of integrity in terms of the Russian hacking (if he was a man of integrity, he wouldn't be attacking the intelligence agencies for trying to get to the truth of the matter . . . unless he actually does like golden showers.)

I for one will be watching Rogue One again at the time of his inauguration. May as well watch some "anti-Trump propaganda" that triggered the Right on Twitter.

Actually it would, it would show some civility and might make people stop throwing tantrums if they can see the Leaders of both sides are willing to get along.

Purposefully being arrogant and boycotting just keeps tensions running.

Trump is not like any president before, he's not a diplomat or a competent politician. He's a fluke, caused by many factors, and has an appalling approval rating. I don't think anyone should back his actions or stand idly if they don't agree with them. "Let's support him for his term, and try better next election" is not being an adult while protesting is childish. Trump is a terrible man, with terrible ideas, and has no respect for anyone. He's using his powers for his own benefit, at the cost of the american people. Tension in this matter is good, boycotting is good. Anything to tell the american people and politicians that they have made a terrible mistake, and hopefully minimize the damage he will do until his successor has taken office.

We're not a democratic country, we're a republic. And people in big cities deserve a lesser vote because reasons!

Apparently acting like that does win you the election.
or maby just being put up against a worse canidate wins you the election. Its not the first time this has happened and wont be the last.
