Explosive shot detonate in cluttered trash?

I'm having a hard time keeping track of the projectile in large pulls or if im avoiding mechanics. Whats everyone else doing to keep track of this besides just not using it? Thanks

Do it a few times on a target dummy, using different distances to the target. Eventually you will get a hang of the timing and hardly even need to look at the projectile anymore. It really is just a matter of practice and not all that hard to pull off.

If there is so much trash that you can't even see it, well - then it already is in a great spot and you just let it explode

You can also stand in melee range and just double tap the button if that is feasible in a given situation.

Yeah it's just a matter of getting used to it or going full suicide bomber in melee.

Personally with no longer having a deadzone I just run up to the pack, double tap it and disengage out. Pending what type of pack it is I'll just stay there DPSing. Too annoying having to keep track of it when you can just run in, cast it and disengage out.
