"Will this be considered a stain in American history?"
Not really. But I'm going to laugh when folks from the """"resistance"""", BLM, and ANTIFA 20 or 30 years down the road bring it up and claim it as such.

He will go down in history as a controversial president. If he continues doing what he's doing so far. But that's about it. I don't think Trump will be a stain in American history. He's no Hitler.
I don't think that anything can be considered "a stain" in anyone history, simply because of the age we live in and how information is spread.

It actually has less to do with it being an African country and more to do with simple decency although i would argue that most people on this planet are simply not decent. There are plenty of countries on this planet that are shitholes. We call them 3rd world countries. Neither you nor I would ever want to live there. Ever.
here's what i think.
I do not think Trump will be a "stain" in american history. Fast forward 100 years into the future, Trump presidency would be but a bullet point, a president people barely remember. Ask Americans today, outside the most famous one, most Americans can't name the "in-between" president. You know about Washington, Lincoln, teddy Roosevelt, Kennedy, Nixon (mainly because Watergate) and vaguely know the recent ones, but the other, you kind forget about them.
What history will retain however, is that this is the period the US fall behind other nations regarding social and humanitarian advancement. I am persuaded that social progress is unavoidable and unstoppable, but can be temporary slowed of halted.
The US will adopt in the future some form of universal healthcare, affordable education, and many social protection other developed nation already have. Looking back 500 years, 1,000 years into the past, the trend is completely obvious. We, as a species, learn and improve our social skills and craft a more fair society. Across the centuries, we banned autocracy, despotism, slavery, we shunned racism, adopt human right declaration, adopt democracy, accept woman equality provide more and more social and humanitarian help to people in need.
The trend is obvious and the US is no exception. The only difference is that the US used to be leading the world, with ideal of freedom, democracy, anti slavery, women suffrage. Now the US lags behind.
And this is what i think the history will remember.

For the millennials, this is baby's first election loss, so we knew there'd be trouble. We just weren't prepared for this level of tantrum. They had 8 years of Obama, the Dear Leader, and were expecting 8 more of Hillary. When they didn't get what they wanted, they went crazy. A lot of that is the fault of my generation, who should have taught them that sometimes you just lose.
But yes, this will be considered a stain in American history. The reason being that today's journalism is almost completely left-wing, so expect future generations to place the Donald Trump era directly beneath the Holocaust and Stalin in terms of human misery.
come on, man. If you aren't capable of basic human decency, what sort of a human being are you. I don't advocate being oblivious to facts, but you don't have to be a dick as well.
Regarding the "shithole countries" comment, it was completely out of place. I am fine if Trump was saying he wanted to set some standard of education, skills or motivation to immigrate to the US, this is a defensible policy, but you don't have to take a piss at a whole continent and its citizen.
You don't choose your mother, the country you are born, the culture you are raised in, or being born at all. And you don't deserved to be called a shithole country citizen just because you are born.
