    Looking for a budget laptop

The goal here is to find a decent laptop for my mother who has poor eyesight. Her current laptop is a 2012 chromebook that is very lightweight (around 2.4 lbs) but the screen is only 11.5 inches wide. I'd say the 2 main goals here is a great screen size and a low weight laptop as that is what she is used to. I don't need anything with huge processing power or anything that can run games as it is just a laptop for browsing around and the occasional video.

Browsing around Amazon I found a https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A1BOQWC2XF5W4I that has a 15.6 inch screen and weighs 4.7 lbs for 279 I'd say is a baseline to go from. I'm open to any suggestions and I'd say my budget is around 500 for this. Thanks for the help.

So im a big fan of refurbished (only from newegg cause they have a fabulous return policy) I found a laptop that has a bigger HD and more ram for roughly 100 bucks more. I figure the longer it will last would be good.

For web browsing this would do fine as well for 50 bucks less:

Seems good but if I was going to get a refurb I'd hope it would be less than 400 compared to some of the others so far. Admittedly I don't know much about computers so maybe what it comes with offsets the fact.

That looks like a pretty solid find compared to the first one I linked. 60 bucks less, bit less on the weight too. I'll use this as the new baseline but I think this one is pretty solid for what I need.

Less than $400, 17" screen and Acer gave it the all clear. Should be perfect for you mom so long as she's not actually taking it anywhere. It weighs 7lbs though so it may be heavier than she wants if she regularly takes the laptop with her.
I think the biggest knock on that one is the weight comes in at 7 pounds, where the others are in the 4-5 range. That is the best viewing size and quality of the 4 for sure. Another one to add to the list to decide between. I think that should be plenty of them to compare and filter through for now too. Thanks everyone
