- Christopher HitchensPopulists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.
While that's true, he also did it apropos of nothing back in early January.
Yes you saw that right, he referred to himself in the third person as "the ratings machine DJT".
That is what he is in point of fact, and if you read the above, in temperament too.
dark ages are calling, they want their mentality back.
religion and politics are separated for a reason, if he is so afraid of immigrants of countries where religion and politics are entwined, why does he want to copy that?

Prediction for the future
We can at least take solace in the fact that Trump's willingness to trash talk his own goddamned show at least means that financial conflicts of interest are less of a concern when his own ego is at stake.
People keep fixating on the religious aspect of this. The "Johnson Amendment" impacts all nonprofit organizations.
Lets be clear that the Johnson Amendment has nothing to do with expenditure or PACs and is a complete halt on any political bias. It does not prevent civic endorsement such as promoting voters to go out and vote. It is unconstitutional and there is no argument that can refute this. It's quite literal, word for word, breach of the 1st Amendment.
Johnson Amendment had no right to establish or prohibit religions. However, neither does the Federal Reserve Act. A religious organization filing for federal tax-exemption is acknowledgement of Congressional laws that respect the establishment of religion.
I'll accept Johnson Amendment repeal if Federal Reserve Act is also repealed. No ifs ands or buts.

There are no bathrooms, only Zuul.
Personally I think the less religious organizations do on a political front the better. I mean would you really want groups like Scientology to have a clear field on a political landscape?
Why do I have a slight feeling that this is going to be end up like the time where republicans pushed for their citizens to sue other nations. Once they realized that it opened up for lawsuits from citizens from other countries, it was abandoned. (Although Obama vetoed it, he still got blamed for not pushing harder to make Republicans realise their stupidity). Removing this will also empower other religions than Christianity and I once again don't think they have really thought this through.
everytime I see the word "daily" on a website that talks about "news" I think oh... thats just fake news as always.
Well that is certainly a new avenue of staying nonprofit, just bank the money towards politicians.
