    Question Are Aquariums safe?

I'm thinking about getting one but I'm worried about it leaking and ruining my floor.

Wouldn't there also be a concern during my vacation time when I would leave my place for several days. A leak then could surely be catastrophic.

Anyone have any ideas? I used to have an aquarium in the past and it sure was relaxing to watch the fishies swim about.

Mom had an aquarium for years and I don't think it ever leaked. As long as there's no reason for it to tip over or something to hit it I wouldn't think leaking would be a problem.

I have an aquarium app that I can send to a projector and have my entire wall have digital fishies swim about...

Have someone you trust check your place while you're gone, for my real answer.

This is true. But there is beauty in the process of selecting fish, planting aquatic flora and customizing your aquarium how you like it.

I suppose that would be the only option eh. Or set up a remote camera?

And who, pray tell, will be feeding the fish? Or are you fine with them just eating each other?
You can get auto feeders ...

In some 25 years of fish and or turtle keeping never have I had a glass aquarium break or leak.

If you want added comfort go look up Back Yard scientist on youtube, he has some videos of him blowing up stuff in filled aquariums and I was surprised how much shock a filled tank could with stand.

I never had issue with my aquariums as far as leaking. If you are buying one from a store and not off Craigslist, you should be good.

I'm amazed there aren't laws in Canada against having such a dangerous home furnishing. Google "The dangers of home fish tanks". Hundreds of thousands of deaths every year.

Suppose if you buy a cheaply made tank you could possibly get leaks but of all the people I knew that owned aquariums none of them ever had leaks.

No, they are not safe. Having one in your room attracts Aquaman, and not the cool Jason Momoa one or the JLU badass one, but the lame early days aquaman no one likes.

    Are they ghost shrimp?

If leaks are your biggest concern then maybe you shouldn't get an aquarium. Try investing in a pet rock.

It's a rock. What's the point of that?
