Drug catapult found on Mexican border

Why didn't I think of this? There's a pretty solid fence along some parts of the border and since people think it's secure, the bad guys set up a catapult on the Mexican side to hurl drugs over the fence.

DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona say they’ve seized two bundles of marijuana that were catapulted across the border from Mexico.

While patrolling an area east of the Douglas Port of Entry last Friday, agents noticed several people running from the border fence as they approached.

They reported finding a catapult system attached to the south side of the fence and two bundles of marijuana, weighing more than 47 pounds combined.

Agents dismantled the catapult, which was seized by Mexican authorities.

Federal authorities say in recent years, smugglers have thrown drug bundles over the border or shot them over with devices such as air-powered cannons and catapults.

The fence separating Douglas AZ from the town of Agua Prieta is pretty substantial.

They've been doing this for awhile, and tunnels. Almost as if a wall doesn't do much in the long run.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.

I bet with some more work you could get that thing to launch 100 kilos of drugs over 300 metres.

They have also modified car haulers to extend over the fence and they drive cars up and over it

It's almost as if we've had technology to get through, over, or under walls for many centuries.

That made me think of a catapult+parachute combo for overcoming that wall when/if it is built. And that would be a pretty just-causian way to enter America, wouldn't it?

You cant stop it all obviously. There is only so much manpower to watch the whole area.

Give it 2 months. Someone will use a steel ball canon, and 2 months from there, a plastic t-shirt launcher.

You've clearly not kept up with how Matt Damon stopped the dragon things at the Great Wall.

Naw, they'll just make sure the wall is like, 5 feet higher.

That will totally stop catapults in the future! Stupid 2500 year old technology, we will stop you yet!

Good thing they lack air cannon technology!

To be fair, he doesn't look like he wants to be in it. Sad part is if it was Chow Yun Fat I'd wait in line to see it...
