I don't see the point you're trying to make. I also don't understand comparing a church to a country.

Is it really that hard/offensive for you to respect the customs and traditions of the country you are visiting...

TLDR: When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Does that mean they have to take off the headscarfs when they visit?

Progressives will defend this for some reason. They were doing it in the thread about the Iranian chess team member.

Marine Le Pen was visiting the Mufti, a religious figure. Not a country. She was visiting a religious figure in a specific place where it is required in that specific place, to meet that specific person, for woman to put a veil on their head. Strangely it is a veil that used to be quite common in our churches. She choose to decline. fine.

What is it you dont understand or are you trolling?

i'm no specialist, don't quote me on this, but it seems that the danger need to be real, immediate and unavoidable to justify self defense, especially lethal self defense. But i am talking about people here, that may not apply to a nation or a group of nation.

For a nation, i don't believe preventive genocide is justifiable. I won't go into detail on how to fight terrorism since franckly, i am no specialist, but what i think is extremist islam is an idea. You don't combat idea with guns and fighter jets. You fight an ideology with another ideology.

The ideology of freedom. Freedom of though, of religion, freedom of life. You show people there is another to live. ISIS thrive by keeping population ignorant and serving propaganda about the evil west. Bombing the population there only serve to reinforce this propaganda.

I do believe the west need to show force and retaliate against agression, but i also believe a strong effort to reach and communicate with the populition, to de-demonize the west and of course help rising the country above povertyis what would have better results on the long term.

I'm sorry, but how dense or ignorant would you have to be to not consider that Marine, an outspoken far-right politician with a clear history of anti-muslim rhetoric, walked into this meeting not knowing she'd be able to pull this PR stunt?

Headscarves, and any religious symbolic clothing to 'shy' women can go back to the middle-ages where it belongs, but stop letting these obvious tricks fly under the radar. Marine Le Pen was informed that she would be expected to wear a headscarf in advance.
Such bravery, like a vegan going to a dinnerparty where he/she has been informed there will be served meat, then storming out shouting about murdering animals.

Sigh, once again the biased narrative is more important than objectivity. I despise these types of socially or religiously enforced rules on women, but at least to try see the bigger picture here.

She's visiting a country and meeting him for diplomatic reasons, not religious reasons. Do women need to wear a veil when they visit a priest?

Of course she knew! They told her beforehand, and she said she won't! They didnt cancel the meeting so she thought it's okay she won't, and they ultimately handed her the headscarf once she was in front of the meeting doors..... That's her version. She also said she met the "biggest sunni autority in the world" in Égypte last year without wearing headscarf so she do not understand the problem.

And of course it's a political stunt! She's a politician, daughter of a politician and she is in a presidential race... what do you expect? Imo it's also a mufti political stunt....... but who cares about that?

Yes I have. You keep asking stupid questions at that, none of which that are OT. I get your sexist and think women should know their place when visiting certain cultures but I disagree.

Are those customs different depending on if you are a female?

If they visit the headpriest a.k.a the pope, then yes, they have to.

you used to have to cover up when meeting the pope. so? Regardless of the purpose of the visit, you abide by the rules. Do you think you will be allowed an audience with the pope if you are wearing shorts and no shirt? No? There seems to be rules there that we find normal, yet you find it odd that meeting a religious figure from another country we can just do whatever we want?

    really?

    just for your information https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Mufti

This guys is not another priest or whatever. He is the highest authority for sunni islam in the same way the Pope is the highest religious authority for catholics. So one can follow a protocol to meet the pope but not this guy.

    p-l-e-a-s-e.....

note: for those that dont know, this was a carefully orchestrated publicity stunt by the bitch. She is trying to get elected and is desperate to make people forget that she has no clue on the economy and is a blatant populist racist.
