Swearing/namecalling in WoW

As a proffessional soldier, my basic training was long time ago, same as advanced training and specialization, four years of warfare also.

Those that get tore up about curse words crack me up. So you are torn up about words that were deemed to cause a curse by the Catholic Church during the Plague? Seriously, most of these words were just normal every day words until that time when the church convinced people that using these certain words could cause the Plague ( aka the Curse) to be contracted. im sorry but they learn this shit long before WoW. They learn this on the playground, in school, hanging out with friends, in movies, on the internet. WoW is NOT were kids are learning to cuss or talk trash. so go crusade for goodness elsewhere.

WoW is one of the places definately, you just cant blindly say it is not.
Besides, kids these days dont watch movies, they dont go to playgrounds, nor hang out.
Their focus these days is FB, online games, mobile games.
What Im trying to appeal for is toning down all that cursing, namecalling for the sake of young, to make them better persons with respect for people around them.

Actually, my kids are very nice kids, great at school, they never swear, not irl, not in game. Im proud they didnt embrace that primitive behaviour and I think my parenthood was successful.

This is the reason why I avoid pugging at all costs: Thin-skinned people that will take everything personally and cause drama to no end. In my experience, both in and outside the game, these kind of people are the most self-conscious and immature and will attempt to cause as much uproar and involve as many uninvolved people as possible into the drama because their feelings were hurt.

I stick to raid or m+ groups formed within my guild since we can be as profane towards each other as we want because we are all "in on it", and we answer each other in kind instead of whipping up a can of butthurt.

Reporting does actually. Back in cata, I've called someone "gay" (like literally "He is gay"; not faggot or anything worse) and got a 72h chat mute. So it does help, you just need to report.

A player in a Battleground once told me to hang myself with barbed wire. He also hoped that my children would die of cancer after I'm dead. All because I didn't agree with his tactic of risking our stable 3 bases in Arathi Basin in an attempt to get a fourth base. I forgot to report him, because I didn't care.

Kids play FPS games all the time, and they hear swears either when they play wither their parents, or when they join a Voice-chat. Yet you complain on WOW OP? Lol?

Exactly, you are playing with like-minded people in closed society environment. And thats fine, you are not influencing strangers in pug, since you dont know them. You are protected yourself from thinskinned people and in the same time they are protected from you. Win-win.

Hm, you obviously missed my motivation (which I explained) for this "crusade" on swearing and namecalling.
But, I will repeat, its about children getting in WoW infested with namecalling/swearing and thinking its normal behavior in real world, not me personally.

Also, it is not only WoW in question, such behaviour infested all online games, but this is WoW forum, so I cant talk about other games, can I?
Im happy if only one person who red this thread took a minute to think about what Im saying and decided to change his mind about swearing being "cool". Stop thinking only about yourselves and make some thing for young ones.

From my experience, noone swears more and in a better way than artists

I would agree that in some cases swearing might reflect lacks in vocabulary but in most it simply shows people who are emotional.

Also, "this set it fucking ugly" != "this set is very ugly". Swear words bring quite a different emotion which emphasizes the meaning.
