Tera Coming to Playstation 4 and Xbox One

Wonder if they're going to have separated servers between the PS4 and Xbox clients

I know the reason that an Xbox port of FFXIV has failed in talks over and over again is because Microsoft doesn't want Xbox players sharing server space with the PS4 and PC, and Square refuses to allow servers for only them to keep the player pool large and diverse (and probably because of the additional server costs)

Microsoft has changed their position on that, they're now open to cross-platform play. Though I've seen very few games take advantage of it. I know YoshiP (FFXIV dude) has said he's been in talks with Microsoft for a while about bringing FFXIV to Xbone. So I'm assuming there are still behind the scenes challenges with this that's slowing the process.

Last i heard they still want at best xbox and pc cross play, they dont want ps4 players interacting at all.

At this point the only logical reason i can figure is they dont want players to hear players having a possible better experience on their biggest competition.

The only MMO that I like using a controller with when I'm feeling lazy. Plays great!

ESO also plays great with a controller. I wont like to miss it in a new MMORPG.

a game in enjoyed the combat (best out there besides wow imo) in just gotta a bit to grindy at the time for me.

Hype! Will en masse be handling both the US and EU versions of the port (I hope so!)?

Wonder if there will be an option to transfer characters across platforms (though no other MMO has done it...).

I think ESO did it for their console launch, but that's about it. Don't think any of the other recent ports - Neverwinter, STO, etc. did that though, so it's probably a low chance.

My biggest issue with console MMO's, is communication.

Playing with a keyboard, I can type in chat, and perform actions pretty easily. On consoles, you generally need to open a menu, go to the chat area, and type with the controller (which is quite possibly the worst way to type anything at all). Mid encounter, you are surely to die, or get someone killed.

Yes, you can be on a headset, but not everyone enjoys that.

Thx and ya the more MMO's the better. Now that consoles have hardware that can support MMO's really well it makes me happy

Never Winter Online was a horrid grind fest of the likes I have never seen. ESO also is quite a bit too grindy. If Tera also ends up being a grind fest, I can't see myself playing it, or any other Console MMO ever again.

On that note though, i'm curious why SWTOR hasn't been ported over yet. I can really see that working out very well on a console.

Not 100% true.

They are open to Cross-Platform play but what the ability to allow players to click a (Only group with xbox players) button. Its why to this day they have no cross-platform games on XB1 unless its tied to the Windows Store.

I'm on the XB1, so i'm not too sure. I'd have to look into that.

A quick google search tells me you can use it to type, but that is it.

Which still doesn't solve the issue with needing to go through menus just to access the prompt to type.

Well PS4 has full kb/mouse support for FF14 I know that. But as for other MMOs I'm not sure. Apparently according to Jtbrig they just added it to ESO. Tbh I don't know why I brought PS3 into this since support for FF14 is gone in 3 months.

I may have to look into that. There is still one other small issue. Distance from the console. I'd need a decent length of wire to reach my couch. Would use wireless, but that may or may not be supported. And I kinda don't want to purchase an expensive keyboard and mouse just to play an MMO on my console, lol.

Honestly I have the same feeling. Consoles no matter what game are just better laid on your couch lazily with a controller . I started to play 14 with a controller and loved it.

Not 100% sure but the XB1 mite support Wireless KB&M you can look into it tho.
