Overwatch 'cheat-maker' told to pay $8.6m to Blizzard

The developer of the hit video games World of Warcraft and Overwatch has successfully sued a company that sold "cheat" tools for its titles.
A California court ordered German firm Bossland to pay $8.6m (£6.8m) to Blizzard for 42,818 counts of copyright infringement.
Blizzard had argued that Bossland had reverse-engineered and otherwise altered its games without permission.
It follows related court rulings in the UK and Germany.

Bossland had attempted to have the US case dismissed, but did not defend itself in court, according to the news site Torrentfreak.
It also faces having to cover about $177,000 of legal costs.

Wrong forum, and they won't pay a cent basically, they're not US based, and U.S. Civil law doesn't generally apply outside the US

Its website remains active and continues to advertise cheats for several Blizzard games, insisting "botting is not against any law".
Yeah, I'm not exactly sure how a state court is going to have any authority over a Germany based company. They might actually be making Blizzard a bit of money though, seeing as they force all the hackers they catch to rebuy the game.

Lol, that company is as vaporware as it gets. Goodluck getting anything from them.

This hardly matters at this point since Blizzard forced a US contractor for Bossland to hand over its source code last year. Unless they re-write their code entirely using a unique design Blizzard will continue to ban the bots shortly after people use them. They have been over for quite some time.

because, contrary to the article, bossland didn't make Aimbots for OW, it was the maker of the infamous "honorbuddy" bot for wow and has bots (mostly for MMO's) it doesn't make any of the OW bots.

Isn't bossland the ones that have made several bots around most Blizzard games? I'm pretty sure I've read about these lawsuits going on for a couple years now.

yeah, but these threads are not allowed on the forum as you can still very much buy bots from this company.

They released the Tyrant bot which is for Overwatch. It's probably gone from their Products list after losing 1 of 2 lawsuits in Germany.
