Girl commits suicide near me - cyber bullying.

A 9th grade girl that lived near me killed herself on Thursday. She was a victim of a cyber bully.

My kids know most of the story, but here is what I know.....

They bullying was done by a boy in her school. Everything I saw on TV, or read online, said that it was so vulgar that it could not be said on TV, or posted online. It was his second offense that anybody knows of. He was suspended from school before.

After the girl died he sent another text: "Thanks for the days off from school."

He has been removed from school.

To me, this kid needs to be locked up in a mental rehab center, and maybe more than that.

    Thoughts?

Added because some think I made it up:

A lot of kids these days are complete and total dicks with a lack of respect for anyone.

    very sad.

this is not about what you think. This is about a family who just lost a daughter for such a stupid reason that should not of happened.

    Juvenile prison for sure.

Extremely sad and unfortunate for the family at loss. Poor girl taken away at such a young age.

agreed he'd should be charge for manslaughter, since he was too young he should be taken into rehab, if he's doing this as a child we don't want adults like that, if you did that an an adult you'd be charged and put in jail.

Of course.... however, what I am getting at is how we can prevent things like this. Obviously there needs to be a deterrent that means something for the kids who would do this to other kids.... I don't know what that is.

Being cyber bullied? Block them. Walk away from the computer. I really don't get how people can't deal with this stuff. If it's bullying in real life, punch the kid out or pay someone to do it for you. Beyond that, can't really help you. I got bullied a lot when I was younger and I dealt with it by fighting back, which stopped it.

I think murderers and other people who are responsible for the death of others should offer a significant amount of their time to the family and friends of the victim. The victims family would get to set therms. In most situations this would result in a payment where both sides never meet, but in other cases different options could be considered.

How can parents not see the depression of their own child and do something about it? How can they raise a child so brittle and weak as to kill herself because of someone else saying mean things about her? There is no faith, no strength and no decency in this generation, as predicted.

Never fails to see the absolute worst in humanity crawl from the muck they reside in to talk shit about the victim.

I will express sympathy for the girl's parents but really. This is fucking pathetic. It is not hard to put the phone down and walk away. Or ignore them. Unbelievable. After the shit I had to deal with in school I am unable to express any form of empathy for someone who gets upset from something they read on their phone.

Kids need to learn to not give a fuck about other peoples opinions online. Power off your phone, tell your parents/teachers about it or if it gets criminal go to police. How do these kids even surive the smallest hardship in life if they cant even handle a school bully?

The way I see it, if instead of going offline you top yourself - you had no chance at life to begin with. Better do it now instead of waiting a dozen of years to become an alcoholic or a drug addict (life's hard) and ruin lives of other people in the process.
All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

People say this and forget that it continues into real life too....

Sad story all around. Some sort of mental evaluation is probably in order for the young bully. The family of the perpetrator and the family of the victim as well.

I don't think that we can hold children entirely responsible for their actions, but they are also far from being the innocent little angels that some believe them to be. It's fairly obvious that signs of things amiss went unnoticed somehow by everyone involved.

    Tragic.

The OP does not specify that it continued into real life within the school. He could have just been some random asshole that never had the balls to do it in person.

That's funny because if something is bothering me on the internet I can stop looking at it. Oh wait, no it's not funny at all.

Considering cyber bulling is often reflective of RL bullying, but then continued away from school, I think most of the poeple here are missing the damn point. Harassment is harassment, and the kid should be punished / forcibly sought help..

Yeah, decades ago you only had RL bullying, but thats because there werent ways to continue bullying away from school that didnt risk confronting the parents.

It's sad that this is happening but is this a new trend now when someone is bullying you? Bullying sucks and I was bullied relentlessly when I was in elementary school but it's really sad that these children aren't being taught how to deal with it properly.
