New followers. What I think about them so far...(spoilers)

Yes, I realize I'm just another asshole who plays wow, and I'm not an authority on the game, but I have done most of the quests for the new followers, and would like to share my thoughts. So, if you haven't done them and want to be surprised don't read any further.

In order of how I completed them:

    1. Shaman - Magatha Grimtotem?!! Are you fucking serious?! The tauren who is the reason Cairne is dead, and Garrosh is still alive dares to enter the Maelstrom, and I didn't just get to annihilate her? The quest part was good, especially when we ultimately deny Magatha the Doomstone in the end. I am not a big Thrall fan, but I would have rather had him or Aggra, honestly. I have her currently deactivated.

    2. Mage - Aethas Sunreaver!!! I was happy to see him as part of my Class hall. The quest was very focused around Aethas trying to keep himself under the good graces of the Kirin Tor after a sunreaver stole from them, and I think it is good to see his character be redeemed. Currently a follower.

    3. Warlock - Kanrethod Ebonlocke. The big green demon at the end of the green fire quest now joins the warlocks. From a story standpoint, this is a form of redemption story that I like to see, and it also does a great job of binding the story together. Jubeka was charged with keeping Kanrethod banished, and it was not explained why she was at the class hall in the beginning, but this quest line ties that up. Currently a follower.

    4. Paladin - Nerus Moonfang. The Moonfangs are starting to grow on me. I am glad the story writers have tried to flesh out the character of Delas Moonfang, and I would not be surprised to see night elves become paladins in the next expac, and Delas Moonfang being its precursor. The quest was on point, made sense, and seems to be pushing the bounds of character development, which is good if you want to see a fantasy class game unfurl in a believable way. Nerus is a distant uncle of Delas', and as a ghost has joined the paladin ranks as well. Even cursed beings are not beyond redemption. Illidan is a case in point, so why not Nerus, as well? Currently a follower.

    5. Warrior - Darius Crowley. So, don't get me wrong, I have been a big fan of the Crowleys and have enjoyed working with Lorna Crowley in Stormheim, despite it not being one of my more liked zones. As one who quite enjoyed the Gilneas starting zone, as well, it is good to see Darius joining the ranks. His part in the quest line was too limited, and I thought it was going to go another way. While I am not displeased about the choice Blizzard went with, I figured we would be getting Danath Trollbane. Danath Trollbane left his post in Hellfire Peninsula to escort your warrior to the broken shore and got split up before you "died" but Odyn spared you from death so you could fight on. No one is quite sure what happened to Danath Trollbane afterward, but I think it would have been better if he was the one who became the follower. Currently using as a bodyguard.

    6. Hunter - Nighthuntress Syrenne. It's interesting to turn a hostile into an ally. It doesn't appear she is a friend of the Nightborne, and joins you after you demonstrate similar goals. I'm glad this was who was selected, though I admit, I thought it was going to be Nathanos or Velanora. Currently a bodyguard.

    7. Druid - Thisalee Crow. To be perfectly honest, I called this one. I assume the horde one is that tauren counterpart from WoD. I've always enjoyed Thisalee Crow, from all the way back in Cata. The dialogue she offers is reminiscent of that time period, too. currently a follower.

    8. Death Knight - Minerva Ravensorrow. I don't know what to say, here. She's just the right amount of bitchy, and gets the job done. The quest line was awesome when it wasn't all buggy. The DK followers have been the subject of a lot of speculation, especially where the entry of the 4 horsemen were concerned, and whether or not we were going to see Thassarian and Koltira together in action, again, so, I guess they get a pass here. Maybe they will try to make her a good strong character... who knows. Currently a follower.

Still in the process of the other 3. So, what kind of criticism would YOU offer blizz? Did they hit the nail on the head? Did they miss the mark? It's difficult to say definitively but, go ahead and discuss. Have a good day.

My only problem is Magatha, its just fcking dumb...

But as I stated in differend thread, they should have take advantage of Yrel's ''whenever you need us...'' and connect draenor characters via followers. I know ppl don't wanna even slight mentions about Draenor but it would be cool imo.. I mean, there is plenty of characters to pick from

I honestly thought Crowley was a rogue, but I think he's a cool bodyguard. Aethas Sunreaver is my favorite follower of the new batch, and I share a similar outrage for Magatha Grimtotem. I also think the DH naga follower is pretty cool, and the monk one (and story) Is beyond awful.

No idea how Magatha is in there. Seriously, right now she is one of the most despicable characters in WoW. She's your champion because "it's better to keep her close"? Yeah, I believe sir Cairne thought so too.

Aside of that, they are mostly pretty cool. What I like is that most of them are not fanservice, just new and interesting characters with their new personalities. At first I was like "who the fuck is Minerva?", but she turned out pretty cool. So far my favourite addition is the DH one, a Naga follower.

I actually like Magatha. All shamans are goodie goodie guys, sometimes slightly savage or ruthless, but in the end good guys. Magatha is unlike any other shaman in the class hall, she is egoistic and bitchy. Feels fresh.

And I don't really care she killed Cairne because I play alliance :P Oh and I don't get why she is resto when she doesn't use a single healing spell and during the campaign says that water is the weakest of the elements.

Btw I thought mages get that goblin from the Dalaran plaza? Or is he a bonus follower or something?

Monk one isn't tied to any overarching storyline, except that Stormstout Brewery is now supplying Monks with Storm Brew. Stormstout Brewery gets invaded and the brew gets fel-tainted, and so you have to cleanse out the Brewery then stop demons from making Fel Storm Brew in Broken Shore.

Overall it was really corny (just like the Monk campaign in general) but good. Honestly the Legion seems more like Saturday morning cartoon villains where their entire goal is to keep Monks sober.

The follower herself isn't any famous Monk, she's just a Monk that shows up at the end to help you.

Mistweaver Tax noun 1. The effect of both high mana costs, and lack of utility, coupled with requiring specific talent combinations to compete with other healers, while still not being able to compete with toolkits said healers have baseline in any competitive area.

He's the follower you get after Aethas Sunreaver. There's a different quest line, it's quite short, but few moments are quite funny

Akazamzarak has better bonuses than Aethas, and he calls mages arch-losers

I adore most of the new champions, but I simply refuse to do the shaman quest (I don't really want the shammy mount anyway so I don't lose anything long-term that I can't read up on WoWpedia) and I feel like the Warrior quest, even though Crowley and Eitrigg are cool, is a lot of wasted potential. We could have found out wtf happened to Trollbane and recruited Saurfang, or even one of Odyn's golden val'kyr, but instead we got two characters that, again, while cool, are kind of second-stringers compared to the alternatives.
Be seeing you guys on Bloodsail Buccaneers NA!

Only done one and its Nighthuntress Syrene, the Botkiller. Killed her once myself, and she gave me a leyline that gave me 800 mana. Pretty cool to have her as follower^^ Easy questline to get her as well.

Do alliance get Aethas too? and do horde get Crowley?
Or do they have different champions depending on faction?

Because no way Crowley or Aethas would follow some1 from the opposite faction.

And now that I have nighthuntress Syrene as my follower, can I still encounter her in Suramar as a hostile elite?

Wow you triggered yourself in the first two line so hard that I couldn't read the rest.

@lightspark - How does this quest chain start? I have Aethas, but never saw an option to open up quest chain for Akazamzarak. He's just chilling next to my mission table.

I think it's triggered either on the next day after you get Aethas or after weekly maintenance. I got the belf on Tuesday, and I got the goblin on Wednesday after maintenance in EU.

He'll start yelling about his hat and rabbits, it's REALLY hard to miss it

Personally, I think it's kind of shitty to have a bunch of Night Elf Paladins running around, when there is simply no real connection there. I feel like they're purposefully diluting the Paladin's core identity, in order to completely remove race-restrictions in the future, rather than build upon the lore that's already there. I also have some issues with the "Holy Nathrezim", as it feels like kind of a cheap re-tread of the Draenei reveal.

For the Death Knight followers... I dunno. I keep going back and forth on them. I feel like there's something "missing", but I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm not a fan of the newly-risen "Four Horsemen" being complete masters of Necromancy literally the moment you revive them (save for the last one... obviously). I also thing it's sort of unusual that the Four Horsemen have this huge role, but you, the player, feel kind of unrelated to them, almost like a sidekick at times. I still think the name "Deathlord" sounds incredibly stupid, so maybe a cooler title would help convey that the Four Horsemen serve *YOU*.

For Warriors... It's funny, because I *LOVE* the Class Hall, but I've not been overly impressed with Lore developments there. I wish they'd focus more on "recruiting powerful Warriors of old" vibe, and just go all-in on that front, recruiting them for "one final, glorious battle". I'm talking, bring in the HEAVY hitters, like Lothar, Varian, maybe even Garrosh (as a means of redeeming himself and bringing honor back to the Warsong Clan). Crowley is a good step in the right direction, though.

wow, seems that Alliance got the odd straw in regards to warrior follower, Horde gets Eitrigg

I still don't get why people don't understand the mentality behind Magatha being a follower.

The whole point of Legion is uniting the strongest people so we don't deliver another uncoordinated blunder like the Broken Shores.
Literally who gives a shit if Magatha killed Cairne, when she could be an insanely strong ally and the Legion is literally at our doorsteps? Sometimes, you just have to put differences beside you.

Norbundo was right its better to have her around to keep an eye on her than to have her scuttling around getting up to god knows what and drinking the demons special brew like her bloodtotem cousins did!

I mean do we really want a fel infused Magatha and a fel infused grimtotem tribe?

All i say is when this is done and dusted i hope Thrall asks for his doomhammer back so he can smash her fucking brains in at the celebration party!
