The gift that keeps on giving

Democrats attempt to salvage their "party" with a rebrand:

"A Better Deal: Better Jobs, Better Wages, Better Future."

LOL! They really should have hired some big boys from TBWA\Chiat\Day, instead they relied on idiots like Tom Perez and Keith Ellison.

I guess the Democrats will be happy being re-branded as the Pizza Party. Too bad they won't have Peyton Manning to help pitch it. Manning is a Trump guy - like most winners are.

Oh so you mean all of your mansplaining about how the Democrats lost because they "lost touch with the average American" was bullshit, then? Because that's entirely what's motivating this rebranding.

LOL - you can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. The Democratic Party can "rebrand" all they want, won't matter in any way.

One-sided threads like this are so boring.

Oh look, it's that guy with the hat who doesn't like Democrats. Yawn.

The hat that says "Make America Great Again" - not, "Do You Want Extra Cheese".

By the way - I am not bashing Democrats, I am bashing the lame re-branding campaign. They should have hired outside help.

It's only bad if you wash it down with some Oxycontin while you are sitting around waiting for coal jobs to come back rather than consuming moderately and being active.

I thought people specifically voted for Trump because they were losing in an economy that had "forgotten them"? Isn't that the point of Making America Great Again™? The whole idea behind Trumps campaign was that Americans were losers, and only someone of his power and intellect could fix the issues afflicting them.

It appears you bought that shit hook, line, and sinker. I bet you have one of those gaudy fucking hats to prove it too.

LOL, no wonder you did not vote for Trump, if that is your comprehension of what he meant by "Make America Great Again".

That's okay - your door bell just rang, Tom Perez is there. Make sure to give him a tip.

It bothers me that either party needs to "brand" their message in some way. Like they're selling a product that needs to be marketed.

Good point. "Making America Great Again" was a TRUMP slogan, not a Republican slogan.

But the DNC, in their cluelessness as to how the "most qualified person to ever run for President" got beaten by a loutish real estate developer with a fake tan and bad hair.....well, they think it was all about the slogan.

You ever see "O Brother Where Art Thou"? The part where Pappy O'Daniel's son suggests they need to get a midget like Homer Stokes? Ya, it is kinda like that.

It sounds worse than it actually is; we speak of it as 'branding' and 'marketing' because that's the language we as a consumer society have become used to - it also helps in drawing fairly useful analogues between the marketing of a product and the marketing of an ideology.

Marketing, honestly, is nothing new; let's take the conversion of the native populations of the Americas as one example. Sure quite a bit of it was forced, but a whole lot was due to a rebranding of Catholicism to incorporate a lot of native elements that indigenous people would be used to. We just have more refined terms to describe that process now.

Connotations aside, viewing ideologies as products that can be marketed and consumed actually helps to explain quite a bit throughout history.

Does it really though? I mean aren't they selling a product: themselves? Don't they need to argue (aka: market) that their message, their goals and their positions are superior to the "other guys"?

Technically it was a Reagan slogan. Trump just lost the "let's".

I can't say I'm the type of person to be persuaded by trademarked platitudes. So which color MAGA hat did you pick? Did you go with the camo version to signal to everyone that you're a real "outdoorsman" American?

The best part about posts like this, is it shows more about the OP than anything else. He has demonstrated his blind partisanship and cognitive dissonance on many occasions. Grats, bro...

The only hat I have is a red one - with a big "A" on it. Roll Tide!

The only thing I am partisan to is Trump. I despise the Republican party as much as the Democratic party.
