what does points of interest and track quest pois mean?

Points of interest adds arrows towards nearby towns and other major locations. Quest POIs adds a blue overlay showing the general area where quests in your log take place (bright blue for your active quest, faded blue for other quests).

It adds a marker where your current focus target is - if you actually set a focus.

Like that guy said, I'd highly recommend Sexymap. Looks great. Changed a week ago, haven't regretted it once.
