Give me a fucking break. How can you be so completely blind to the utter hatred coming from the right? Any pathetic attempt to paint the GOP as the go-to party for LGBT folks should be ruthlessly mocked.
I mean heck, we just had a thread about a Republican politician who said gays are different from human beings. But yes, please talk more about the Orlando shooting.
I'm generally okay with personal evolution, particularly when it comes with a significant presence at the table. Hell, I give my family the same latitude. My old man was against gay marriage not all that long ago in the grand scheme of things. Plus, being born pure is boring. It takes real intelligence and a healthy response to experience to reevaluate your opinions.
Over time, yup. I'm pretty damn liberal, but if LGBT folks had a legitimate seat and a good deal of policy influence within the GOP I'd be pretty okay working with them on the issue. As for "evolved" or "opportunist" I really could care less. The outcome is what matters.
Kanye is just as whiny as both sides.
Violence Jack Respects Women!
When will you learn that equating homosexuality and pedophilia is not a winning combo? And to your answer -- children can't consent, so for the purposes of a legal union, no, it wouldn't. And for discrimination purposes...unless someone is breaking the law or has broken the law by having sex with children or engaging in child pornography then there is no reason to discriminate against them.
Who knew the right wing wants to be the thought police? Here I thought that was the accusation against the left.

Incorrect. Republicans actually wanted a constitutional amendment putting man + woman into the consistution. It appeared they had the power to do so. DOMA was the compromise that prevented the constitutional amendment from happening. DOMA, at the time, was the pro-LGBT option out of what was on the table.
The DSM, while often referenced in legal proceedings, isn't a legal document. It is often used, but you are still required to provide expert testimony rather than reading out of the book. If you can get an expert to argue for pedophilia as a sexual orientation, and a jury to support the argument, then it doesn't really matter what the DSM says.
