    Protesters wield torches in Virginia

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...=.992e44a11659

This happened on 5/13 in Virginia. Am I the only one disturbed by the level of creepy emanating from this event?

    What type of person thinks it's a good idea to join a protest led by;

    A: Richard Spencer

B: In the dark of night but with torches

C: In the defense of a civil war statue while chanting

Is this a sequel or re-enactment to Dr. Frankenstein's monster?

Maybe Spencer is afraid to show his face during the day.

Well torches are quite common when commemorating someone lost (in this scenario a statue), at least it is around these parts.

    Also, the heck:
...and chanted “You will not replace us” and “Russia is our friend,”...
Also, also, the freaking twitter feud is gold,
Perriello, who grew up in Charlottesville, tweeted derisively at Spencer after the alt-right leader posted video of the first protest.

“Get your white supremacist hate out of my hometown,” Perriello wrote on Twitter.

Spencer replied: “We won, you lost, little Tommy.”

“Actually, you lost,” Perriello shot back. “In 1865. 150 years later, you’re still not over it.”

If only they weren't white and were destroying property... Then it would have been a perfectly acceptable "protest".

Yeah, what they were chanting is puzzling at best.

Is that something you're claiming? It seems funny that a minority out of millions of protesters in the past two years alone are being cited as evidence for how to appropriately protest as a white nationalist.

Not sure if you're defending them or just using it as an excuse to take a shot at the other side.

Richard Spencer is some alt-reich wannabe Nazi who worships Trump, it makes sense when you acknowledge he and his followers are retards.

I dont get it... Whats with all this destruction of history? Robert E. Lee is a gem in a pile of shit, just like The Desert Fox was for Germany. It's not like he joined the war to mass genocide black people.

He was a noble man and proud man, a respected general if not one of the most respected generals ever...but since he fought for the Confeds, we have to take down the statue?

The North did way more fucked up shit during the war than the Confeds ever did, but you'll never hear about it since I guess the Civil War was for blacks and blacks freedom or something I guess now.

The practice of burning crosses as an act of intimidation, when the clansmen themselves were Christian, has always seemed a little odd. Then again if I recall they did get the idea from a movie in the first place.

On principle I agree. The statue doesn't seem offensive to me, but then again I'm not an African American living in that community, so I don't know how I'd feel. I suspect the majority don't care if its there either way. A handful though are offended and then you have the handful of crazies jumping to defend the statue.

    Torches? Oh no. Oh no.

This is it. This is where it begins. The mobilization of right wing death squads and the beginning of the fourth reich. The culmination of all our fears. Hide your Red Books and kippahs. Shit is about to go down.

This must have been an important night for them. They don't seem to notice some women left their kitchens to join the protest.

To be fair, statues tend to be in commemoration of the person, and (civil) war losers, tend not to fall into the category that you'd usually do such gestures for.

Also, not a lot of Nazi Germany statues around any longer.

But I do get the point, and do find this whole thing with the flag and the civil war stuff a little over the top.

Equating Robert E. Lee to Nazis is disgusting.

No, you have the people who want the statue torn down equating Robert E. Lee and any other confederate thing as being Nazi/white power. Rommel would be in the same boat if there was a statue here. Buncha morons, at least Germany looked at the big picture and said "Huh, Rommel was actually a decent dude in a tough position fighting for his men and not the ideology". Same as Robert E Lee
