Virtual reality headsets and games were the trend last holiday season. A fiscal quarter later how is the market holding up?
Is there a lot of support for headsets? VR games?

I think all of them are doing shit relatively, sure the PS4 thing may be doing relatively well compared to others but that's a low bar. Their isn't a killing game on VR, a game which creates a major hype and that gets people excited.

This is something you may be looking for
Just look at the announcements this and next year to see if VR has any future. If people aren't buying the software you will see less exclusives and less focus on VR (in general) just like how it went with 3D televisions.
Support for VR?
Well there is RE7...
And 500 tech demos.
VR won't be worth it for another 5+ years, between hardware and software tech improvements. There's some kinda neat shit out now, but nothing terribly compelling and it doesn't look to be changing any time soon.
RE7
Rock Band VR
Robo Recall
Serious Sam VR
Chronos
Eve Valkyre
Project Cars
Elite Dangerous
Minecraft VR
Rec Room
The Climb
The Unspoken
Arizona Sunshine
Onward
And the list goes on.
VR does well for what it is. It's a niche product with a high entrance price. It's steadily growing and more and more devs are looking into developing their stuff with VR in mind.
Of course you can't find the link since there is no report disclosing Vive and Rift sales. It's all just speculation based on software sales.
It was ty.
But ya if u had to pick a VR headset for gaming I would go with PSVR, But overall the VR market isn't doing all that great.

Ya the numbers may not be 100%, But it still shows PSVR is doing much better but overall VR is doing poor.
Two of the problems with VR right now is it cost too fucken much and it lacks killer apps.

true. But it's not stagnating which is really good and the price is going down slowly. Now with LG making their own VR Headset the price may even drop further (the Rifts price was lowered by 200USD a few month ago)
And Killer apps will have to come over time. Many of the Oculus funded games that are coming out this year will be extremely good but won't be seen as killer apps because those games won't get much attention outside of the VR community =(

I've noticed people that bought in get really, really aggressive and angry at topics like this but right now "falling for the VR meme" is still a term because its still nothing more than another Kinect. It could theoretically be used for something really cool but the innovation is not there and therefore its not worth buying as more than a novelty that will spend more time gathering dust than being used. Right now that use is bad wii games with a monitor on your face, .hack it is not and it never will be.
I wouldn't play games in VR period, I have played with all of the major headsets and they all provide a complete garbage display of games compared to TVs and monitors so you might be asking the wrong person.
It's just even more funny to me that of all the "games" released on VR only a single one provides a meaningful experience(RE7, and it looks like shit in VR compared to outside of VR).
It's funny when someone tries really hard to defend their investment in VR when every sane person sees it for what it is. A shit gimmick with lots of tech demos and shovel ware being pushed on it. VR will be as dead as the kinect soon enough, maybe when it reappears in 20 years again it will actually be good the 3rd time's the charm right?
VR will be a shit meme as long as we rely on motion tracking and an HMD. When we can just plug into the Matrix it will be worth it.
And five years most likely is quite optimistic. The technology, with different hardware and at different prices, mgiht have more mid-term potential in a business environment - think surgery or work in a contaminated or high-risk environment - than in entertainment.
Might as well become the next 3DTV thing and die out without as much as a whimper. For me personally, don't bother me until a holodeck is ready.
You realize when this is the only thing you can come up with to refute someones argument then you have lost right? Not offend do I agree with Tech but what he said is correct.
VR as it stands is a high priced gimmick. The cheapest way in (besides Smartphone Headsets) is PSVR and its also not doing so hot. The PS4 has a install base of around 55 million users and yet PSVR has barely sold over 1 million units.
On top of the system+headset costing a lot the games are not cheap ether and like Tech said a FUCK TON of games on VR is nothing but tech demo's. The PSVR has some solid VR experiences but the only thing standing out above all is RE7.
Really sucks to because RIGS looked like it would be fun as hell, Sadly that game has bombed and its development studio was shutdown.
Funny enough Porn is pushing VR harder then anything, So when that catches on mainstream everything else will fallow. History repeating itself all over again when it comes to tech lol.
