Red face 7.2.5 ToS [Tanking Meta] and no bears allows

I get it.. bears will probably be the best tank for the rest of legion. I however I can't pay the no t-mog & boring gameplay price.

I like tanking. Tanking is fun.

    I currently have the following:

    909 BrM Monk
    890 Blood DK
    890 Prot Paladin
    887 V DK
    lvl105 Prot Warrior (Leveling)

Since I maintain every tank I am curious what the thoughts are on which one aside from bears will have the best ability to carry groups in M+ for all affixes at high keystones and pug Heroic raids with. So I am often needing to make up for bad healers and a mixed bag of dps.

Right now I think Paladin is probably the best for M+ with DK a close second, and BrM for raids. BrM is also great for M+ especially affixes like enrage/necrotic--can literally abuse it with ring of peace and mobility--- also prefer the monk for Tyrannical-- could also be the gear.

Going into 7.2.5 I really want to like the Prot warrior, it seems they do some crazy dps-- however leveling him has felt the weakest of all the tanks....as well as doing initial dungeons I didnt feel tanky like others. From what I am reading prot warriors are the worst tank until they outgear the content, have bracers/BiS gear- then they are beasts.

Here are my pro's/con's of every tank I currently play

-Also every tank can do all farm content and content they outgear---

    Monk:

    Pro's
    • Can cheese mechanics
    • Mobility
    • Ability to take big hits
    • Survivability
    • CC
    • Utility
    • Self Healing
    • ST DPS
    • Not as gear dependent (pretty much ilvl since all the stats are awesome)
    • Not legendary dependent (got KeyMaster healing legos)
    • Most talents are useful for something
    • Easy for healers
    • Large Health pool
    • AoE Stun/RoP
    • Good for raid progression

    Con's
    • Animations/Lore/Looks/Leather (Personal Preference)
    • Lackluster cool downs
    • Unforgiving to play if you over-use your brews/heals/rolls
    • No DPS cool downs/burst (unless you count OX)
    • Tanking high sustained damage
    • AOE DPS
    • Rotation (Personal Preference)
    • Perception
    • Getting healers to let me stay at 50%
    • (Group goes down, probably can't solo the boss unless severely out gear)

    Prot Paladin
    Pro's
    • Animations/Lore/Looks/Plate
    • Forgiving to play
    • ST DPS
    • AOE DPS
    • Highest DPS Tank
    • Defensive Cooldowns
    • Ranged interupt/silence baked into rotation
    • Best DPS Cooldown/DPS Talents
    • Mobility (Yes- I think double charger is good)
    • Utility
    • Can cheese mechanics
    • Decent self healing
    • AOE Disorient
    • Stun
    • Bubble
    • Good for raid progression

    Con's
    • Low Health
    • Without mitigation up can easily be melted
    • Odd to heal (from healing perspective I am tempted to drop a big slow cast heal on the paladin when they get < 50%HP and then they will light of the protector-- however you don't know when its on cooldown and you wasted a long cast when you could of been doing something else)
    • Doesn't have the complete kiting toolkit
    • Cooldown on self healing--can die between heals if your healer is dead
    • No CC
    • (Group goes down, probably can't solo the boss/trash unless severely out gear)
    • Very gear dependent/Haste dependent
    • Tanking high sustained damage
    • Bubble...yes here too
    • Schizophrenic Rotation (opinion)
    • Way too many cool downs/abilities
    • Several bad talents nobody ever takes

    Blood DK
    Pro's
    • Lore/Plate
    • Utility
    • Self Healing
    • If the group goes down I can still probably solo the boss/trash
    • Not as gear dependent
    • Not legendary dependent
    • Most talents are useful for something
    • Easy for healers
    • Death Grip/Gorefiends Grasp are unique to the DK and awesome
    • Stun
    • Large Health pool
    • Rotation
    • Great at tanking high sustained damage
    • Good at Dealing with magic damage
    • Can break stun
    • Godmode/strongest tank on content it out gears

    Cons
    • The worst damage of all tanks - AOE and ST (buffs coming in 7.2.5 remains to be seen)
    • Animations/Effects
    • Mobility
    • Have to plan ahead---caught without runic power/Vamp at a bad time can drop fast if runes are down
    • Cant cheese mechanics
    • Weak Cooldowns yet Vampiric is one of the best cool downs oddly enough
    • Weakest on raid progression (Why bring a DK)

    Vengeance DH
    Pro's
    • Utility
    • Extreme Mobility
    • AOE Damage
    • Self Healing+Mitigation
    • Strong defensive cool downs
    • Rotation
    • Godmode on content they out gear

    Con's
    • They are Demon Hunters
    • Unforgiving to play
    • Perception
    • Do not really shine in any area except mobility
    • They are Demon Hunters (I know twice)
    • Lots of bad talents
    • Gear dependent
    • Not good for raid progression (why bring a DH)
    • ST DPS (Buffs coming in 7.2.5)
    • They do not self heal as well as a DK, and their mitigation is not as good as a paladin/warrior-- therefore its tough to assess the "tankiness" on both sustained damage and big hits... I think they are better at the big hits because they can bounce back pretty fast if you have souls prepared but repeated ones like 2nd boss in BrH I have the hardest time with of them all-- also harder time with high sustained damage- it could quickly become OP though tweaked in one direction. (also i don't have 4 set on my DH)
    • Stressful for healers who don't know you well
    • Cant cheese mechanics

Warrior - Keep me honest here?
    Pro's
    • Burst Damage
    • Lore/Plate
    • Tanking high sustained dps
    • Best at mitigating physical damage
    • Mobility

    Cons
    • Extreme gear dependence
    • Devastator vs indomitable - One of these talents should be baked into the class
    • Clunky rotation - by clunky I mean I can't get into a good rhythm like I can on the other tanks
    • Low self healing
    • Ignor Pain tuned for emerald nightmare--- was great then but I have been reading that it is vastly undertuned for today's and tomorrows content
    • Ignor Pain doesn't scale
    • Worst at dealing with magic damage

Here are my predictions for 7.5.2

(Remember no bears allowed -see opening line)

    Keystones
    1. Prot Paladins
1.5 Blood DK (if dps buffs are good enough/set bonus maybe #1)
    2. BrM Monk
    3. VDH/Prot Warrior?

    Raid (progression not farm)
    1. BrM Monk
    2. Prot Paladin
    3. VDH
    4. Prot Warrior?

Again, warrior is a wild card since its the only one I don't have a 110 and geared. So I could be totally wrong... but if ToS is magic heavy then I think they won't do well on progression especially if do not have Bracer.

    #1 Thoughts?
#2 Can anyone sell me on focusing on my warrior- show me the light? I want to like it/main it

Feel free to add or change

    1) Help me pick my class threads aren't allowed.

    2) There's literally another thread on the front page talking about tanks in 7.2.5 (the thread you probably looked at right before posting this)

    3) If you have to ask the question about "what class should I play." The answer is whatever you have the most geared/enjoy playing. You're not playing at a level where the class you play matters/is holding you back. If you were playing at a level where it mattered/was holding you back you wouldn't be asking strangers what to play.

1.) I play every tank (except bear) so this isnt a help me pick the class- I am theorycrafting classes & stack ranking them for pve content outside of bears.

    2.) I don't see it?

3.) Where did I ask what to play? My only ask was where do warriors fit in/get better/correct me. I play every tank-- I do want to like warrior more but its pretty painful

    1) So, it's just a blog post then. Got it!

    2) You think you can find it now. Hint* It's not the post about top end guilds quitting.

We can't pick your class for you. That's up to you. We don't allow Help Me Choose My class/spec/role/faction/gender/race/boost threads here.

You're welcome to try the different tanks out or post specific questions about each one in their respective forums, but asking people to help you decide will get it closed.
