On second thought, I would create a meme creation licensing system backed by stiff penalties and aggressive enforcement. I'm tired of browsing year old memes on Imgur only to see people still can't figure out when to use what template. Some guy just slapped a Terrible Tiger joke on an And Then I Said template.

It's really tempting to invade either Norway or Denmark but i think our military have two artillery pieces and one of those they have lost somewhere in the woods.

No nation bashing here please. The scenario is: you are in absolute control of your native country. How doesn't matter: either you're the absolute ruler, or your ideas have such support that no other politician dares oppose you. What would you do?

As for myself (USA):

Withdraw from all military alliance treaties (NATO, 1 on 1 agreements, All of them)

Pull all US forces back to the 50 states/territories/commonwealths

constitutional amendment that US forces can't be deployed outside US territory without a Declaration of War from Congress

fix military spending at 5% of GDP in peacetime, spending on space tech/exploration set at a minimum of 2% GDP

begin an aggressive space program aimed at permanent Moon and Mars bases and establish orbital weapons platforms (nuclear and kinetic)

withdraw from the Outer Space Treaty of 1967

withdraw from the UN; give them 2 years notice to get out of NYC

withdraw from the WTO and impose a 40% tariff on all imports

declare a 21st century version of the Monroe Doctrine (for NA only)

full universal healthcare

an equal rights amendment to the Constitution that includes LGBTQ people as well as women

continue to aggressively develop the US's energy sources to achieve 100% energy independence

develop a network of solar power satellites that gather solar radiation in low Earth orbit and transmit it to the surface as microwaves, which is then converted to electricity

Only a handful of things I'd really like to do. First and foremost, I'd end the unholy relationships this country has between health, justice / prison and profit. Then I'd rework the second amendment to keep guns out of the hands of random idiots who don't realize owning a lethal weapon shouldn't be easy. Lastly I'd drill it into people's minds that we can't just keep fucking the planet over if we don't want the future to be a miserable hellhole for everybody but the 1%.

Oh and the food industry would have to be overhauled too. Too much of what's on the shelves in American grocery stores is nothing but trash. When you have to pay top dollar for how food was 40 years ago you know something's gone terribly wrong.

Also, Citizens United would have to go... I guess the list is actually pretty long.

It's a well-known idea. Sunlight in low Earth orbit is 8 times as intense as at the surface. It would be a cheap and limitless power source. The microwaves are tight-beamed to receiving stations on the surface and converted to electricity.

Except that solar panels in orbit cost 10000x as much as on earth and further increase the amount of space debris.

Brilliant plan, are you aware that the USA, just like every other country is highly dependent on importing goods? Your whole "close USA completely off" plan is extremely ill-conceived. The deals, treaties and organizations you want to back out off are beneficial to the US.

Interesting idea. I've occasionally heard something like that mentioned elsewhere. A Finno-Scandian republic uniting Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. I'm not sure if Greenland is included. Didn't they fully separate from Denmark awhile back?

That area of landmasses was actually united under one ruler with the Kalmar-union in mideval times, orcestrated by Queen Margaret the first. But it fell apart after she died.

Greenland have home-rule and is still part of The Kingdom of Denmark, just like the Faroe Islands.
