I always thought the mist cam from the same dimension as the car from a buick 8, which was one of the cars the Lowmen drove in Hearts in Atlantis.

The ending for the movie was traumatizing but so well done. Stephen King loved it and wished he had thought of that ending himself.

it's one of my favorite movie endings for sure.. i'll watch this but it'll probably be nothing close to that quality wise but perhaps something decently entertaing like the strain perhaps.

It actually was pretty close other than the end, where they actually decided to go for a more downbeat ending than the book(which is odd, usually adaptations decide to make the endings more upbeat).

The book was pretty short by itself. I remember finishing it in one sitting when I was a kid and always wanted to know more of what happened afterwards. I think it was deliberately supposed to keep you thinking about it and it worked in my case.
