Is click bait getting out of hand?

I am not talking about someone who for instance makes a teaser of a headline, and maybe the content is not all that interesting. But when someone anyone simply lies about the content.

Scientist have found the cure for ___________.

And the cure is like 25 years away at best and 15 before they even know if they are wrong.

How do you feel?

This should be against the law, same for the "YOU WIN iPhonr 7!" "Naked ladies in your area wants to meet you" etc.

Dashing our hopes should be a infactionable offence,
It's common tack that is taught in every technical writing class, if you don't have an interesting title no one will read your writing.
And you only have afew sentences to get someone's attention

I agree with the sentiment, click baiting is getting out of hand. Especially with news outlets - across the spectrum.

(also, I was promised naked women . . . )

Journalism is PR. The complaint that it lacks quality is basically meaningless. It's like complaining that it's bad PR.

All they want is eyeballs. Eyeballs = $$$.

Click bait's been around since newspapers anyway, just you know, not called "click bait". It's not going anywhere, since it works.

I do hate it though, and personally avoid any articles that are clickbait in nature.

Sensationalism has been out of hand for a long time. And yeah, I think there should be harsher laws on it.
