Yeah that's a bad one but after thirty years the killer might be a totally different person so I wouldn't necessarily judge them "forever" solely based on their darkest hour. A person in jail for any measurable time isn't a person that anyone will know when released. Probably won't even recognize the person either.

Cheating.
Been cheated on once. That was an emotional abyss it took me years to climb out of and even now 7 years later, there's some baggage.
I'm in a happy committed relationship, but I will never entertain the idea of marriage or children ever again.
