Yeah that's a bad one but after thirty years the killer might be a totally different person so I wouldn't necessarily judge them "forever" solely based on their darkest hour. It would depend on their behavior over time and what they've done to contribute to society in the decades following their crime.
Entirely depends on the person. My wife could literally do anything except cheat on me. I already said once I'd cover for her.
A person in jail for any measurable time isn't a person that anyone will know when released. Probably won't even recognize the person either.
