Girl, five, dies just days after 'dream wedding' with best friend

    http://www.itv.com/news/2017-07-02/g...h-best-friend/

A terminally-ill five-year-old has died just days after getting her dying wish of 'marrying' her best friend.

Eileidh Paterson had been battling neuroblastoma since she was just two - and on Saturday, her mother took to Facebook to confirm she had passed on.

After being told her condition was terminal, the youngster made a bucket list of things she wanted to do - and placed marrying her best friend, six-year-old Harrison Grier, firmly at the top.

She got her wish when they were declared "best friends forever" at a special ceremony on June 18.

Her mother Gail, 41, said an ultrasound scan had revealed on Thursday that Eileidh's liver was enlarged and "full" of neuroblastoma.
This was the most aggressive she has ever had as it grew extremely rapidly. She took her last breath surrounded by her family and cuddled up with blankie.

She won the hearts of everyone who met her and will be sorely missed.

At the 'wedding' ceremony, friends and family gathered in a meeting room at the AECC in Aberdeen as the children held hands and exchanged necklaces, surrounded by people dressed as superheroes and princesses.

Eileidh was escorted into the room by her older brother, Callum, to 'When You Wish Upon a Star' from Disney film Pinocchio.

Unfortunately, Eileidh was unable to complete many of the other items on her list - including being a zookeeper for a day, visiting a water park, and playing on the beach.

A fundraising page outlining Eileidh's fight on behalf of Solving Kids' Cancer has now reached more than £112,000.
This is so but also inspiring and cute. A lesson perhaps in us stepping back from our trivial complaints

Heartbreaking. I really wish to live the day when we will be able and willing to save kids from cancer...

This is the kind of thing I think about when I say some fights aren't worth it. See ya later Eileidh.

I hope Harrison enjoys the rest of his life!

Is it sad that these forums are so polarized that I expect @Tennisace to come in here shaming the parents of children by forcing them to 'marry?'

Considering he thinks all single people are pathetic and depressed until they get married, it'd be hard for me to picture that.

But what about this disenfranchised underage female? Don't they need to be protected from white males!?

This applies to a lot of adult women as well though.

Disney movies, happily ever after. Gender socialization kicks in early actually, at the age of 2-3. Children learn very early about how they are supposed to act and what they are supposed to want, in relationship to their gender.

They also reinforce these own "rules" amongst themselves.

LOL! Well we should stop telling women that their ultimate goal in life is to be married with children, otherwise they are doomed to be spinsters, dying alone (or with their 43 cats).

Why children? I will NEVER understand that, EVER.

It's sad that she didn't get to tick off all the boxes on her bucketlist but atleast there is some solace to be found in the fact that she managed to fulfill her number one wish before passing on.

Yeah, this is probably more for the parents tbh. They get to feel that they did everything. Realistically speaking, the kid probably never experienced true longing for something, so the clickbait part could as well have been "she finally got her ultimate cake before dying a few days later". The concept of marriage is probably completely lost on her to begin with, even with disney indoctrination, ... or especially because of that. Well it's a sob story about a dead kid who got dealt a shit card in life, I hope her parents get over it.

Does he get to keep her stuff since he's now a widower?

This is really beyond sad, noone should have to deal with something like that at that age.

For clarification: I wasn't talking about the "marriage".

That's the ultimate goal for all people, not just womyn, duh.
All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

Is it though? In 2017? Sure plenty want marriage and kids but others are content not reproducing especially if they have siblings with children
