Take some disposable money as your sole gaming money. Say $100.

If you win $100, put your winnings in your other pocket. Continue to play with the original $100. Go home when the original gaming money is spent.

Sure they do. That's who Casinos get people coming back to spend money.

One guys wins big, 1000 pour money into it. The big winner is getting a fraction of what the Casinos is making.

I've never been to one and quite frankly never will unless in my life I reach a certain amount of wealth where I literally don't care if I lose some money...which I'm not in lol

A few drinks and a blackjack table is a blast of an evening.

You're more likely to die in traffic going to the casino than win big at the casino.

Never been to one either but I am going to Vegas this summer and I refuse to spend time in Vegas without at least trying it.

    So it's a win-win.
The reports of my death were surprisingly well-sourced and accurate.

Once or twice for a big occasion, was a lot of fun but not something I'd ever want to do regularly.

It feels a lot like Legion. (sorry I had to... I really like Legion don't hit me)

I've gone a handful of times, and I limit myself to a $20 donation. I call it donation... because I get nothing in return.

    Anecdotal side notes:

My Aunt: Loves Bingo. Like LOVES it. How much money does she spend/lose/win my assumption is that she just enjoys her time and the people she is with... but I could be wrong.

Friends and Friends of Friends: I have seen a lot of families torn apart by gambling. My little league baseball coach ending up living out of his ford ranger as he would spend every paycheck on gambling every pay day.

Best Friend: His brother took us to Cherokee, NC... (a dry county btw... W T F) but they did have a casino. He lost $2,000 one night, and didn't tell his fiance, and then called his MOM the next morning to ask for a $2,000 loan/wedding gift (still not sure about that one) in any case he spent the next evening losing that as well. He's still convinced he's the best black jack player of all time... oh and he's divorced now too. Not because of gambling... but that relationship was doa.

I wasnt in a casino as well, but i thought about just visiting one to set 1000 € on 0 on the roulette table just to leave it again to never return.

My grandmother goes to play bingo twice a week. $75 each time. Dunno how much your aunt pays, but nobody's dropping $150 a week because they like spending time with their bingo friends.

She also likes to take trips to play the slots a few times a year, blowing several hundred each time. Then has to go and hit up some skeevy loan place so she can make a house or car payment.

Most definitely, but still *someone* does win big at casinos.

Just don't expect you're going to.

Though I remember going when my friend was 21. His dad's friend went along as well. We were going around, y'know, playing cheap Blackjack tables or $1 slot machines, or the nickel slots, just stretching our money as long as possible (my friend played Blackjack for 3 hours off $20 going up and down, so for him it was 3 hours of fun for $20).

His dad's friend was dropping $15 a pull in the slot machine and we were terrified at the mere idea. He hit the jackpot twice while we were there.
My friend did the $3 dollar slot, but didn't do the full play ($9) and he hit jackpot.... won like $6 since he didn't do the full play.
.....he then did the exact same thing on another machine right after. For $18, he could have hit jackpot twice in a row, but only got $6 in winnings on what could have been probably over $50K! XD

But that's all why I say take your play money and spend that. Pocket any winnings. When your play money that you'd spend on touristy stuff anyway is gone, you're done. Call it a trip and walk away, whether you're up or bust.

I've been to Vegas twice for Final Fantasy XIV's Fan Fest and all the gambling I did was put the rest of my pocket change in a slot machine in the airport when we were leaving.

I've been to Shreveport in Louisiana twice as well. One for the above friend's 21st birthday party and I don't remember the second one. Both those times, I took $100 and came back with around $125 the first time and something like $103 the second. I feel like if I actually gambled at a casino again, the casinos are all set to wipe me out. THEY KNOW I'M UP $28 IN MY LIFETIME! THEY WON'T LET THIS STAND!

I go to a casino in Atlantic City maybe about once every 2-3 months. Not always to gamble though, alot of the casinos have clubs and events and concerts.

When I do gamble I mostly just go to the poker room and play 2-5 no limit or craps. Craps is REALLLLY fun if you play with a few friends. The most I ever won was $1100 in about an hour, and the most I ever lost was about $600 in less then fifteen minutes (craps).

Don't ever walk into a casino to gamble and expect to win. Whatever money you bring with you, expect to lose it and if you break even, consider it a win.

You're not missing much. Gambling is the only thing that you miss out on by going to a bar instead

I used to go quite often. Like, once a week or so, when the closest casino was about an hour drive. Ironically there is a much closer casino now, the new MGM in DC, but I don't really go anymore. From what I heard its packed all the time(in weekends you won't find a Blackjack table for less than $100 minimum which is too rich for my blood).

Historically I tend to win at casinos. Not always, but I'd say I've won about 75% of the time I go. I mainly play Blackjack which has the worst house edge of any game(meaning players have a better chance at winning at BJ than any other game)and of course because I'm not a moron I can usually clean up. Funny story in Atlantic City a few years ago I was winning so much the dealer suspected me of counting cards.

Kinda funny how people are saying expect to lose at the casino yet most people in this thread reporting their trips are saying they came away with a win .

Yea, thats what I said. What you say happened multiple times simply doesnt happen. Not at Caesars Palace on the Strip. Sorry, no offense intended.

The only way you can win at Blackjack is by counting. I mean you can win short term, but the only way to have a positive expectation is to count.

Ive been to a few played the slot machines and had fun. Vegas is the only way to go if your gonna do it but its best to go with friends or family. I also recommend you catch a show if you go they are all rather good. Saw Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil when I went to Vegas it was a weird show but interesting and entertaining.

Dont go to a casino expecting to win nor should that be the point of you trip. Unless you have tens of thousands of dollars to just throw around you wont win. My cousin is the ONLY person I know who beats Vegas regularity but he throws around mad money to do it though (he plays Craps mostly).

Thats why I stick to the slots they have some very interesting ones with mini games and such and you can play the penny slots for days.
