Hello.
Topic really says everything I wanted to say but I'll give a small background I guess.
A few days ago 2 Israeli officers were killed in Jerusalem, specifically in al-aqsa mosque, one of the holiest places of islam, while on guard duty. [more info here

Because of this incident, the Israeli government installed metal detectors in the entrances to the site for additional security. This was met with outrage, violent protests and riots on the palestinian side.
Due to this protest, the Israeli government caved and instead are now installing security cameras. This is again met with even stronger protests and calls to violence.
Now - I am not interested in talking about Israel or Palestine specifically, but rather the security checks. I'm an atheist so I really have no opinion on the matter, but is it so far fetched to demand a security check before entering a "holy place"? Why is it any different than a security check when you enter the mall or an airport? Is there some reason behind the protests or is this just an excuse to riot?
Suppose your local church / synagogue / mosque / whatever had security cameras and security guards at the entrance. Would you agree to enter?
