Doesn't look like it's part of the image, more likely it's just the TV channel's own insignia. You can see it covering up half of a letter.

All part of America, South Korea and Japans grand strategy.
Step 1: Wait for North Korea to Nuke South Korea, Japan and Alaska off the map
Step 2: Actually start to do something about it.

Yeah... because as well all know, NK has such reliable missle tech that there is certainly ZERO chance of having catastrophic failure midflight and having it crash and explode into civilian areas of Japan. NK and Kim is like holding a bomb with a hidden detonator... sooner or later it is going to go off. Are you willing to wait until it does? Or do you want to act now?

    My strat:

    1. Call China, offer them the entirety of North Korean land with military assistance to pacify the pudgy psychopaths "army" on the condition they take over (this will sadly be a massive increase to the living conditions of 99% of the people there AND would alleviate Chinese fears of having a US ally directly on the border of China)
    2. Enjoy the next 100 years of peace in East Asia.

You think you need to give them permission to take the landmass? Are you completely ignorant to Chinese takeovers are you just naive to believe that everyone asks the US for permission in order to get things done? If China wanted it they would take it the same way they wanted SCS or Tibet. They leave NK where it is because its like a having a lunatic cousin that picks fights with your neighbours, it diverts attention away from you and allows you to upset your neighbours whilst simultaneously pretending that you are trying to help the issue. Its exactly the same way the US protects Israel from the Arab nations whilst allowing Israel to perform an ethnic cleansing.

    1. In this specific instance, yes. Since SK and Japan (both close allies of US would have a large say)
    2. That works until your "lunatic cousin" starts shooting. Then you have a problem you wish you solved earlier.
    3. Im not even going to bother with how many ways this is so fucking retarded.....

The Chinese don't care, they are physically bordered with him and refuse to participate. How thick are you? They have nothing to fear from him, they aren't going to be pressured into doing anything because they have the US by the debt testicles. Nothing you can do here. As soon as the fighting starts the Chinese back NK and call for a cease fire. Whats going to happen? Going to start firing nukes at everyone? If NK fires one and US retaliates, everyone just lets fly because both China and Russia will find a reason for it to be an act of war against them or an ally. Who do you think helped them develop the missiles?

Hasn't the whole "China owns the US cause of debt" thing been debunked like a dozen times?

Do you believe there would be no consequence if they dumped the debt? The US has spent years increasing the debt ceiling just to keep up with it and you think nothing bad would happen if China dumps it?

You should write a book. "The little radar that cried nuke".

There would definitely be consequences, but they wouldn't be nearly as bad as the doomsayers wail. IIRC China isn't even the main holder of US debt anymore, according to an article I read last year. According to the article Beijing has been actually getting rid of their assets, and Japan is now the single largest holder of US debt. China owns 20% of the debt the US owes to foreign countries, but that is only 6.8% of the US's total debt.

What if this was not North Korea and some rich evil asshole is doing it trying to start WW3 with his fake NK missiles.

You cannot buy ICBMs at rich peoples Walmart. You also cannot slap one together in your back yard. If anybody was selling them anywhere, all terrorist organizations would have gotten their hands on a few ages ago.

I'm so happy to live in a country that has handed America all of its defense for them to do nothing in return.

The time to act against them was in the early 2000s when the Bush Administration was cooking the books for the Iraq casus belli and NK was flaunting its nuclear intentions.

A ballistic missile goes for both speed and distance by ideally flying above the denser layers of the lower atmosphere, where hypersonic speeds are possible without ripping it apart. That's why North Korea sucks at making them. Those things are designed to strike with as little time to react as is possible. If Japan had time to issue and execute an evacuation order being as close to NK as they are, that was the worst ballistic missile ever.

North Korea isn't trying to make a cruise missile, they're trying to build a working ICBM and probably running into the problem that these things are really hard to aim without a network of military navigation satellites. They're just beating their chest, desperately trying to impress countries who have been building these things successfully for over 50 years.

There was never going to be any war with North Korea. This is about missile defense and conventional / nuclear deterrence.

Bush pushed to advance all three. Obama became President and cut investment and procurement. None of it had anything to do with Iraq.

South Korea's military has dropped eight heavy bombs near its border with the North in a show of what local media called "overwhelming force" following Pyongyang's latest missile test.

President Moon Jae-in ordered the strike, by four F-15K fighter-bombers, at a firing range in the country's east to "display a strong capability to punish" North Korea if it were to attack.

The MK-84 multi-purpose bomb is a 2,000lb munition that can penetrate some 11m of earth and 11ft of concrete. South Korea said all eight hit their targets at a testing ground on the country's own soil.

The Yonhap news agency said government officials wanted to show Seoul's ability to overwhelm its belligerent neighbour in the case of all-out hostility.

I don't know what this Kim is doing. I am convinced that he is doing all this shows just to make us fear them because he is who has fear of the rest. There are like 100 countries in the world that alone could vaporize NK in a day. There is no real menace from NK.

I was previously fairly certain that they were just trying to move up from the kids table, get a seat with the real global powers. By launching a missile over Japan however, this is more than an 'idle threat', this is picking a fight. Even for propaganda purposes, Japan and South Korea now have every justification to launch military action against N.K, since they seem to willing to fire the first shot.
