    Heroes

    Assassin

    Chromie

    Abilities

      • Damage reduced from 400 to 300.

        • Increase Sand Blast damage by 5 for each Hero hit.
        • After hitting 80 Heroes, Sand Blast leaves an Echo behind. The next time Sand Blast is cast, the Echo also casts an untalented Sand Blast that deals 40% damage.

      • (New) Mounting Sand (Q)
        • If Chromie hits with a third consecutive Sand Blast, it counts as hitting 3 Heroes.

    • Level 2

    • Level 11

    • Level 18
      • Past and Future Me (Q)
        • Removed.
      • Piercing Sands (Q)
        • Moved from Level 2.
        • Adjusted Functionality:
          • Sand Blast now pierces targets, dealing damage to any additional Heroes hit.

      • Loophole (R)
        • Removed.
      • (New) Stuck in a Loop (R)
        • Temporal Loop teleports the target a second time after the first completes.

Developer Comment: Chromie's baseline Quest on Sand Blast is designed to balance hitting a lot of Heroes with precision. We've reduced the damage of Sand Blast to move more of that into the Quest, so that there can be a greater variance between the performance of an okay Chromie player and a great Chromie player. We removed Piercing Sands because we felt that the longer Chromie's range gets, the less interactive Chromie can be for enemies, and replaced it with a Talent with a little more interesting gameplay.

    Jaina

    • Frostbite (Trait)
      • !Quest added:
        • Deal 15,000 damage to Chilled enemy Heroes

          • New Functionality:
            • Frostbite’s slow amount now stacks a second time, slowing enemy Heroes by up to 40%.

Developer Comment: Our main goal for Jaina's changes was to spruce up her talent tree while disrupting as few of her existing builds as possible. Her new baseline quest to unlock Improved Ice Block should allow for more play making potential, which we are adding as a response to players who were disappointed when we moved the talent to Level 20. We also heard feedback from many players that the removal of Bolt of the Storm off of heroes like Jaina has hurt their play making ability and overall fun, so we're going back a bit on our decision to take it away on her. While we want to be more careful where we add these Blink-type abilities, we believe there is a place for it on Jaina, and have added an offensive use case which should hopefully allow her to make more aggressive plays in the late game.

Developer Comment: Our big two goals for the Lt. Morales changes were to offer a bit more variety in the viability of her talent choices, and to increase the amount of utility she brings to the field. In the past, Lt. Morales tended towards a passive play-style, where talents that increased her survivability were usually the best options because her base kit was already very strong. This can be very frustrating for team compositions that lacked specific tools to deal with her. With how much raw healing output she offers, we found it hard to inject more power into her other abilities or talents without it affecting her overall balance or play style. We found a solution to both these problems in her new energy system. Morales players should still be able to keep their team alive for long periods of time, but, with pressure, clever enemies can exhaust her energy and eventually run her down. Although this does add an additional layer of complexity to Lt. Morales, it is offset by a new set of tools that skilled players can leverage to keep her team happy and healthy.

Developer Comment: The Dead King has been reanimated with a plethora of new talents and mechanics. One of our main goals with his rework was to add some depth into his wave clear routine. Early in development we noticed the cadence and deliberateness of his Basic Attacks and wanted to build around that. Between Wrath of the Bone King and the tuning changes to Skeletal Swing, we feel like we hit that goal. The other big focuses with this update were to remove the death state healing interactions of talents and update the talent tree to our newer philosophies. We know it was a long time in coming, but we appreciate your patience and look forward to your feedback!

Also a reminder that the weekly bundle has been disabled due to a pricing error (making the bundle more expansive than seperate purchases).

    Well, as always I'm right.

KT just isn't for me. Tried him out a bit and nnaahhhh, sorry.

Leoric, on the other hand, is now SUPER fun, really enjoyed him. Even though the changes weren't exactly huge.

I personally think Leoric is insane now.

They made him much better duelist, which is great for his role of solo laner as he can trade easier than before. Especially in late game with completed Mithril Mace and Spectral Leech. I am not sure if it is a bug or not, but his cleave mechanic doesn't heal him for each Hero hit, only from main target. However getting 240 health every time I smack Varian is crazy!

I had a very random HL game where I picked Leoric as second pick while rest of team drafted Sylvanas, Muradin, Falstad and last pick went Jaina because "I have no healers". I went all self-healing talents and at 20 I was literally 1v3 enemy team when they were scrambling to clear catapults off their core. I ended up with second highest siege damage, highest hero damage, highest damage taken and most experience soaked while dying just 4 times (I would have died less if I weren't squatting shrines multiple times for our Dragon Knight capture).

However in normal game I would go for this build, I think. Need to try it out.

Yes, he has an option to do extremely well as a duelist, but loses an option to be a proper solo tank. It's kinda dangerous, on the same scale of Varian going Colossus smash when there is no other tank on a team. Which is fine in my book.

Still don't know where to fit KTZ, it seems that you have to draft your group around him to be useful. There are way safer picks to consider.
There are some cases where picking KTZ can be a good idea, like, playing against Samuro (ez 8 minute 30 stacks).

I really love how Morales plays now, but nerf to medevac health was uncalled for, now even a single person can dump on it.

It is non-issue really, Leoric was always bad solo tank. Yes, he could withstand a ton of punishment, but his ability to peel or set up kills is rather poor. However I don't think his survivability changed that much to be honest.

He was always being played in solo lane and as experience soaking machine similar to Xul where just rotated to clear waves in two lanes. His role didn't change, he just became stronger duelist and thus better solo laner.

Kel'thuzad so far seems to be pretty nice, strong assassin if played correctly.

He wasn't always bad solo tank, he worked best against warrior-heavy comps. His slow and Tomb is enough to peel and set up kills unless you fight rare figures like tracer or genji. His survivability took a huge hit with most of his self-healing talents got removed.

But he definitely got a lot of power options to compensate, his wave clear improved significantly, he is a great duelist but when built this way he is more of a specialist that sits on a lane, pushes it into the oblivion and draws 2+ players off the map to stop him.

I also disagree on your opinion that he is good "solo laner" (and the whole notion of "solo laning", seriously, if you want something like that you pick proper character like Zaggara, Xul or Azmodan. While Leoric is self-sufficient enough to stand 1v1, but it's too easy to shut him down and contain with little to no effort).

Editing just to elaborate my point:
Leoric is good at fighting 1v1 in lane in general, 1v1, 1v2 (arguably) in a lane against melee, and have better wave clear now (unless he fights Arthas, who completely removes his waveclear), he is not bad at it, but he is bad against heroes specifically designed to push lanes. His survivability went down, his single target damage went down, but his ability to duel and push went up significantly

    What the..?

The job of solo laner is not to siege base, but just soak experience and control objective near their lane. Most solo laners have either really strong self-sustain (Sonya, Leoric, Malthael, Dehaka, Chen, Thrall and to lesser extent Arthas, Alarak, Artanis) or you have Heroes who are safe in other way (Zagara and Rexxar). Other Heroes are capable of holding solo lane, but in a long run lose the battle to those I just listed. The only Hero who is outside of that is Illidan, who can self-sustain himself long enough and if given a second he will take a fort.

Then of course you have all kind of weird matchups where it depends on direct opposition because even Greymane and Zeratul are pretty good at stalling a lane and trading into specific opponents.

Agreed. Tbh, I think he might be a smidge TOO good. I can see a couple of the sustain talents getting hit with the nerf stick. Nothing huge, just a few small tweaks.

He really does. I'm considering actually BUYING a skin for him now, not just waiting to get one through chests!

Picking Leoric for solo tanking doesn't make much sense. It's not that he can't pull it off, but you're taking one of the best solo laners and use them in a role where there's several better options. It's like picking Dehaka and have him in your 3-4man. He can do a very good job but you're not playing to the character's strengths.

Think Dreadnaught had a decent analysis on that "phenomenon" in one of the HGC casts but it's a bit too much work to go looking for it.

Am I the only one that thinks they need to stop quests from counting on illusions? Or maybe at least 1/3 count or something. Its fun to get your quest done much much earlier than intended, but playing with a Samuro in your team means the enemy can complete their quests 2 times faster. I don't think KT or Gul'dan are amazing heroes for example, but when you complete your quests on a Samuro, you're the next level of broken.

It's a counter. Same way as facing a Chromie means you probably won't be able to siege as Sgt Hammer or do well with anything else that's remotely stationary.

Well if they'll start doing as much damage as Xul's skeletons - sure thing.
