and the friends argument.. well, i get that. But why not get those "friends" together and go gank some puny little braindead'ers???

These friends are long gone, but there are new ones in form of guildmates. Why would I gank other people? I don't get anything from it but wasted time, mine and theirs to the same degree. I get ganking when the server is lagging and you want people to log out or ultimately quit the game, but is there any other reason but a bloated male ego? There are bgs for pvpers, raids for pvers which are more fun than slaughtering defenseless people. It can be fun to kill someone once in a while, I get it. But is it really fun to do it the whole day long? Is if fun to corpse camp? Is it fun to hunt down low levels with a group of max levels? There is no challenge in that at all, it's automatically win. As a last resort going to a pve server is hidden behind a paywall. There are guilds, so you have to make 25-35 people move or abandon them. Maybe I can be lucky and find one or two others who want to change to pve that desperately as well, but most likely they can't afford or are not willing to pay multiple thousand euros for this. Why multiple thousand you ask? Some people have up to 10 twinks, most have one to two, so lets just assume 100 chars in total. And that is very low ball assumption. Easy 2500€, I can't afford to blast 2500€ casually, if you can congratulations. This does not even efford the convince the other members to change the server beforehand. I just hope Blizzard will merge all the servers to one giant server with their sharding technology and make pvp an option charwise, but dreams may stay dreams.

It's when people camp your corpse res and res after res which is annoying. Even more so when you have a two minute res timer and BANG they are there waiting.

Why people ganging portals are braindead? Maybe you have a small knowledge of how MMO's work. The fact that WoW isnt promoting PvP that much as PvE that doesnt mean these people are braindead. You call them braindead because you never learned the other way. The other way (mostly happening on other MMO's) is when you trying to enter an instance its a challenge till you enter it. Reason? Because simple there is pvp everywhere!! People ganging, people chasing others etc. To clarify my position i am not a pvper in WoW. I used to be in other games and i have to say that world pvp is something wow misses a lot.

The trip to Stranglethorn Vale/Booty Bay was awesome, lol. You had to be aware of the mobs and players. I like the danger feeling it had.

Oh for sure, when the server was new it was fine, as generally people coming to zones were appropriate level.

But since for me and my guild at the time, it was an alt-project, we didn't power level, so eventually enemy 60s were camping all over the place.

I still got the account, just haven't been subbed on US since 2008, the character on that particular pvp realm is still sitting at 41 somewhere in badlands since vanilla.

...people who camp rares.

It isn't up to you to decide where someone has fun, or what reward they get from doing said "thing".

This. This is why ganking is a thing. Some people find satisfaction in being an asshole irl, why wouldn't they find satisfaction in being an asshole ingame as well? I doubt gankers are any more "braindead" than the rest. Socially challenged perhaps, it's not normal to enjoy ruining someone else's day.

There's also a lot of relevant options that aren't "get camped for an hour and go make a salty message board topic"
#1 - get some friends or guildmates in to help.
#2 - join premade finder for a group in the same zone and get out of there quickly (this is my preferred option)
#3 - go play an alt
#4 - go roll pve server

If anyone here is braindead, it's the people complaining. As much as I don't like griefers, there's no reason to eat it more than twice if you're above level 100.
And doubly so for people who complain about getting killed at the pvp world quests. Just because they CAN be done with no pvp interaction doesn't mean that's what's intended.
