Some personal history deviating a bit from the thread...

My grandfather was a cavalry captain on an estate in a region which now belongs to Poland. They where normal people and he got drafted when the war started. He wasn't a Nazi or anything. But it was still a prussian minded time. You did what your superior told you to do. He got shot in the butt on his horse before entering Stalingrad and this was his lucky shot which got him back home. My grandmother (his wife) also lived on the estate and when the russians came they lost everything. They flet by foot serveral hundred miles.... Both had not seen each other for like two years and met again just by coincidence in a western German town. That's where they started a new life and family. My grandparents wheren't shy about telling war time stories and as a child I was always fascinated how they got through all of this. In the beginning many just felt it was their duty to support their country beeing at war and only realized in the end they where tricked into something they never wanted in the beginning. Therefor the reference to the book mentioned above...

So I was watching Schindler's List and i'm curious the fate these sick fuck Nazi's. What happened to them after the Allies won the war? Surely every single Jewish exterminator was tracked down, tried, and executed for their crimes. I also remember hearing about mass Nazi suicides after the loss. Did most of them kill themselves? What about the German Citizen's who supported these actions? The average non-oppressed German citizens in Nazi Germany? What became of them, and how did the Allies change the German's mindset after the war? Are there any good documentaries or reads on this stuff? School tended to overlook the aftermath of WW2 when I was in High School. Mostly, it focused on the War Itself and then glanced over the aftermath, to talk about the cold war.

The fact that history let this happen to so many innocents makes me uneasy. I hope every single one of these trigger-happy fucks is dead.

A great many of them, even those that were directly involved with formulating and executing the Jewish Solution were either tried and released or never tried to begin with. Many guilty people got away.
