It's something that's definitely increased in the last 10-15 years with the rise of social media, texting/sexting, and cell phones. It's really easy for someone to get in touch with other people, look up ex's, and communicate quite secretly. I mean a person can literally go in the bathroom for 30 seconds and take a nude picture and text it to another person. It doesn't take much nowadays.

So although it's not a first date topic probably, if you're in a fairly long-term relationship with someone you at some point want to discuss what you both consider the boundaries to be for cheating. You don't want to not discuss it and find out later the person you are dating didn't consider sexting to be cheating but you do. Generally you'd think what qualifies as cheating is pretty morally straightforward, but it seems like it can be a bit subjective.

Wow, I'm not sure anyone who actually claims to be polyamorous would agree with you. There is a difference between polyamory and polygamy (an open relationship).

Forming non-sexual intimate relationships is not something animals typically do. Forming multiple sexual relationships IS something animals do (polygamy).

A polyamorous relationship can have a sexual component, but doesn't necessarily have to.

Lets also be clear that there is still yet a huge difference between an honest open relationship (polygamy) and someone who has commitment issues and fucks anything that walks because he or she is a dirtbag. Oh I'm polyamorous... no honey, you're just a whore.
I mean, just to start, who the fuck are you exactly to call someone a whore for their preferred sexual and inter-personal lifestyle? Are you the rank and file representative of all things 'normal' and 'benign'?

Secondly, there is a difference. Fundamentally, I don't boil my mates down to their sexual attributes, but that's what separates me from an animal. Don't pretend that reveling in those sexual components is anything but animalistic. Pretending that is being extremely dishonest to yourself and the entire human race with pious, self-absorbed nonsense.
There is absolutely no basis for individual rights to firearms or self defense under any contextual interpretation of the second amendment of the United States Constitution. It defines clearly a militia of which is regulated of the people and arms, for the expressed purpose of protection of the free state. Unwillingness to take in even the most basic and whole context of these laws is exactly the road to anarchy.

I emotionally cheat on girls all the time with my guy friends. Girlfriends just don't understand my need to pwn n00bz or talk about movies that don't suck.

An emotional affair is definitely cheating.

I think part of the problem with this trend continuing to occur is that you have so many people that seek to have both a significant other and a 'best friend', who is not their S.O. Too many people are using this other 'best friend' as a way to provide them with emotional needs they deem doesn't come from the significant other. You can't segment your personal life to so many other people outside of your significant other and expect the risk of you doing something stupid not rising exponentially.

I don't really understand this. It just sounds like more "straight men and straight women can't be friends" garbage. If that's the case, as a bisexual man, I shouldn't be friends with anyone because I could potentially develop feelings for them, which is stupid.
A close friend of the same gender?

Basically an article highlighting that people in a relationship can't apparently have friendships with the opposite gender.

Maybe Tennis want to live in Saudi Arabia. Where woman aren't allowed to have contact with men outside her familly.

Maybe it's his dream society. Denying women any right to have contact with anyone except her husband, because that lead obviously to cheating.

Because there is no reason not to, I suppose.

Kinda like why some people think there is a god, they don't have a reason to think there isn't a god.

What reason is there to not think you are Endus?

Regardless of what the article says or doesn't say it is EXTREMELY naive to say that if you aren't careful with how you navigate your opposite gendered friendships then you stand no risk of screwing up your relationship.

    The discussion still stands.

You're still recycling stuff from someone's Lonely Hearts column.

When it was from Times of India you lead with "I came across this highly relevant article." That was 13 Nov 2016

When it was from Arizona State University you lead with "Came across a pretty interesting article." That was 29 Jan 2017

Now, less than a year from the Times of India copypasta, you've rummaged something out of the Hamilton Spectator -- a local paper with a weekly circulation of less than 100,000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hamilton_Spectator Ace, I can post a lost dog notice in my community and get more than 100,000 readers.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
