70 guns stolen from home near Cleveland

Can a responsible person really own 70 fire arms? No way a person with 70 cats or 70 hamsters could be seen as a responsible person.

How do the thieves zero in on such an easy stash of weapons? Does the owners brag incessantly about his guns them in public places?

Police: About 70 guns stolen from home near Cleveland

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — Police are investigating the theft of about 70 guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition from a suburban Cleveland home.

Garfield Heights police say the thieves likely targeted the home because of the large firearms collection.

The resident reported that he was awoken by a gunshot last week and confronted by two men who demanded to know where his guns where.

He said the thieves grabbed the guns and ammunition from a safe and stuffed them into pillowcases before they escaped.

    No arrests have been made.

Comparing guns and cats is an interesting stance I must say

A better comparison would be can a person with 70 collectible figures be considered responsible. 70 hamsters or cats wouldn't be feesable because of the food and care requirements. Guns you can stick into a safe or keep locked up.

    Inanimate objects /= Animals.

It was probably a random heist and they found the collection and decided that it would do, instead of taking the TVs.

I wonder if his collection was insured? Homeowners insurance might cover some but usually you have to specify what you had and maybe pay a little extra for coverage.

my collectables cant kill anyone at a distance (you COULD best someone to death with a few of them I guess, or break them then cut someone with the larger pieces)

a gun collection aint comparable unless they were rendered inoperable

judging from the linked article, that aint the case

my question is what shitty safe did he have that they could get into so easy, or did he just not lock it

Neither than cats or hamsters, and 99% of the time a privately owned gun isn't going to be used to kill anyone.

They woke him up with a gunshot to show him they had no problem using them and demanded where the guns were. That doesn't sound random to me.

It would have been fine if he only had 69 guns.. But 70 is just too much.

And this is how legal guns become illegal guns.

my old boss used to brag about how he had stashes of guns all over the city in the event that the 'gubbimint' tried to take them away. I don't actually know if he kept them hidden away in various properties or literally had like... buried stashes in the desert.

It may have been. It states “about 70”. It could be 68, 69 or even 71 or 72.

Unless they were all handguns a more better comparison would be like 23 realdolls.

how the hell you come to this dipshit conclusion when it literally says that he awoke to gunshots and they made him tell them where the guns were lol

a human being who doesn't WANT to be informed BEFORE they make a decision has no worth, no value whatsoever

Yes. Firearms are an investment, they rarely if ever lose value, usually gain value if they are considered collectors items (and with that many, most likely were)...

No way a person with 70 cats or 70 hamsters could be seen as a responsible person.
Guns are not living creatures that need to be controlled, or provided for. They are inanimate objects.
How do the thieves zero in on such an easy stash of weapons?
same way they zero in on anything else valuable, they hear rumors or see things.

Does the owners brag incessantly about his guns them in public places?
all it takes is someone who knows the robbers, or the robbers themselves, frequenting a gun range the owner visits often, they could easily notice him bringing out a large variety of guns over many months or years and conclude he owns a large collection... Could have even been a family member or something, you never know.
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again.

People collect things. Antique furniture, stamps, classic cars, etc. We get it, you don't like guns. But comparing guns to cats and hamsters dude, really?
