    Dark Ranger/Shadow Hunter Class Idea

Yup! Class suggestion thread. Here we go.

    Shadowhunter: Spear-Throwing Healer.
    Dark Ranger: Rogue-Hunter.
Available Races: Blood Elves, Forsaken, Humans, Night Elves, Trolls, Worgen

Core class ability: Stealth. Functions like a rogue's stealth does, though with a wider detection range. Rather than 6-8ft it would need to be more like 12-16ft. Breaks when the stealthed character uses a Healing spell.

Shared attributes: Mail Armor. Proficiency in Bows, Crossbows, and Guns. Track Humanoids.
    Shadowhunter-Specific attribute: Polearm Proficiency.

    Shared Abilities:

    1) Black Arrow/Shadow Spear. A single target moderate Physical/Shadow damage ranged attack. Requires a Ranged Weapon or Polearm. Grants a Shadowmark or 3 Spirit Power. Range 40yds/25yds. Deals Additional Shadow Damage from Stealth. 0.5 sec cast, no cooldown.
    2) Shadowshot/Void Throw. An area off effect low Physical/Shadow damage ranged attack. Requires a ranged weapon or Polearm. Applies a shadowmark to each target or 2 spirit power per target hit. Range 40yds/25yds. Deals Additional Shadow Damage from Stealth. 0.5 sec cast, no cooldown.
    3) Shadowfade. A single target moderate Physical/Shadow damage ranged attack with a leap backwards 12yds and a vanish into stealth. Removes all shadowmarks on the target to deal additional moderate damage per mark removed, expends up to 50 spirit power for increased damage. Vanish/Stealth duration based on amount expended. Range 20yds/15yds. Instant-cast, 45 second cooldown.

    Dark Ranger Specific Abilities:
    1) Shadowstep. A short-ranged teleport in a line in the direction the character is currently moving. 10yds. Instant cast, 30 second cooldown.
    2) Black Barrage. A ground targeted area of effect channeled attack dealing high shadow/physical damage. Range 30yds. 3 second channel, 20 second cooldown.
    3) Throat Bolt. A single target silence with a 2 second duration, increases duration to 4 seconds if the target is casting. Range 40yds. Instant Cast, 15 second cooldown.
    4) Assassin's Arrow: A single target high Shadow damage ranged attack. Remove all shadowmarks from the target to deal additional shadow damage per mark removed. Range 40yds. 1 second cast, 12 second cooldown.
    5) Shadowshape: Self Empowerment Buff that consumes all Shadowmarks. While this spell is active all of your attacks generate 5 shadowmarks, including attacks which remove shadowmarks from your target. In addition your Shadowstep has no cooldown and your Shadowfade ability targets all enemies with Shadowmarks in front of you. Last 10 seconds, 2 minute cooldown.
    6) Shadowmark. A Dark Ranger can apply up to 5 shadowmarks on a target. This value can be increased through the Mastery statistic. (Breakpoints). Passive.
    7) Shadowbleed. Damage Over Time based on the number of shadowmarks currently affecting the target. Passive, 4 second duration, refreshed by applying a shadowmark. Passive.

    Shadowhunter Specific Abilities:
Shadow Hunters use Polearms that they throw, using the same tech as the Warrior "Whirling Throw" ability to create a copy of the polearm thrown like a javelin at the target.

    1) Call to the Loa. A single target moderate damage ranged Heal. Generates 3 Spirit Power when used. Range 40yds. 1 second cast time, no cooldown.
    2) Spirit Guardian. A single target high damage ranged Heal with a small Heal over Time. Generates 5 Spirit Power when used. If you have 20 Spirit Power at the start of casting, it uses those 20 to increase the Heal over Time effect. Range 40yds. 2 second cast time, 10 second cooldown.
    3) Wispcaller. Area of effect moderate heal over time to the target and all nearby allies. If the primary target has a Spirit Guardian, they receive a high single-target heal effect. Costs 10 Spirit Power. Range 40yds. Instant Cast, 20 second cooldown.
    4) Curse of Hir'eek. A single target Debuff applied to an enemy granting moderate healing to anyone who strikes the target in the next 20 seconds. Range 25yds. 1 second cast, 30 second cooldown.
    5) Blessing of Tharon'ja. Ground targeted AoE which reduces damage taken from Ranged and AoE attacks by allies in the area by 20%. Range 25yds, Instant Cast, 1 minute cooldown.
    6) Call the Spirits. Self empowerment buff that costs 100 Spirit Power. While empowered, you gain the appearance of the Loa Hakkar, Samedi, Eyir, or Zanza. While empowered this way your healing spells are instant cast, have no mana cost, and are empowered as if you had used Spirit Power to activate them. While in Hakkar's form, you provide a speed boost to all allies within 20yds. While in Samedi's form, your attacks steal life from your target and grant it to allies in 20yds. While in Eyir's form, you provide a constant area of healing within 20yds. And while in Zanza's form, you provide a small damage increase to all attacks used by your allies in 20yds. Each form can be specifically selected. Cast Time 2 seconds, duration 30 seconds, cooldown 3 minutes.
    7) Spirit Power. A Shadowhunter can have a maximum of 100 Spirit Power and their Spirit Power decays outside of combat. Passive.
    8) Loa's Gift. All Shadowhunter attacks provide a small amount of healing to the Shadowhunter and all allies in a direct line between the Shadowhunter and the target. The amount of healing depends on the attack used, and is improved by the Shadowhunter's Mastery statistic. In addition, all Shadowhunter Heals are improved by an amount determined by Mastery when cast from Stealth. Passive.

    I like this version.

Guessing right is not the same as having insider information.

What do you all think of the race choices, here? I'm not 100% on Worgen, but they seemed the most applicable Alliance Race for it.

And if Naga exist next Expansion I would add them to the list of proposed races. >.>
